KEY QUOTES
Head coach Tony Baldwin
On the team’s performance…
“I thought Rachel [Gibson] really commanded the ball in the circle, only one walk, and really was in control of the strike zone. I thought our hitters on the other side did a good job of controlling the strike zone. It was a little bit slower-paced game, and it just felt like it was hard to really get the momentum. I just kept challenging them, to somebody be the spark. And I thought Sarah [Gordon] got us off to a good start there in that last inning, and then we were able to put together some at-bats. We still aren’t where we want to be or need to be, but I like the progress and the intent that we’re making.”
On what he hopes to take from this game into the weekend series against LSU…
“I thought the poise that we showed in the batter’s box was good. I thought the way that we attacked the strike zone, and, really, we’ve got to control the strike zone on both sides of the ball. I thought we did that tonight and that’ll certainly be important this weekend.”
