BSB: West Georgia Visits Foley Field Today

Third-ranked Georgia returns to action today at Foley Field when West Georgia visits. First pitch will be at 5:02 p.m. (SECN+).
The Bulldogs (24-2, 5-1 SEC) will be starting a four-game stretch at Foley Field. After West Georgia (13-9), Georgia plays host to No. 11 Auburn (19-5, 4-2 SEC) on Friday. The Tigers are fresh off a road series win over Kentucky.
The Bulldogs, who lead the nation with 24 wins and are third in scoring (10.3 runs per game), demolished then No. 13 Florida this past weekend, registering their first sweep in Gainesville since 2006. The Gators scored 13 runs in the series while Georgia hit 13 home runs, winning 8-7, 17-2 and 15-4.
The Bulldogs are batting .320 with an NCAA-best .626 slugging percentage and 70 home runs. They have a .467 on base percentage. The team’s leading hitters are roommates Ryland Zaborowski (.467-14-48, 1.120 SLG%) and Robbie Burnett (.383-13-41, 26 BB, 17 HBP, 11 SB). Zaborowski leads the NCAA in home runs, total bases and slugging percentage. Burnett, who ranks in the top ten nationally in seven offensive categories, and Tre Phelps (.304-5-26) have reached base safely in all 26 games this year.
Georgia has scored at least six runs in 24 of 26 games this year and 10+ runs in 12 games, going 12-0 in those contests. UWG is batting .282 with a .448 SLG% and a .371 OB%. The Wolves have drawn 87 BBs and 18 HBPs plus are 24-for-28 in SB. The Wolves are led by Cooper Prince (.388-0-10), Brady McDevitt (.351-1-14) and Carter Dierdorf (.349-9-29).
The Bulldogs are a consensus top five squad in year two of the Wes Johnson era. Georgia is 16-1 at home, 6-1 on the road and 2-0 at neutral sites this season. In the series history with West Georgia, the Bulldogs hold a 2-0 edge, winning 13-0 in 1976 and 13-2 in 1981. The Wolves have won four in a row and swept an Atlantic Sun Conference road series this past weekend over Florida Gulf Coast. On March 11, they battled No. 2 Tennessee, falling 4-2 in Knoxville.

Tyler McLoughlin (2-0, 1.59 ERA), Sr., RHP vs. Evimael Quiles (0-2, 8.44 ERA), Jr., RHP
McLoughlin will be making his first start of the year for the Bulldogs after seven relief appearances covering a span of 11.1 innings. He has 15 strikeouts and four walks. It will be part of a staff night on the mound. Quiles has pitched 10.2 innings. This will be his sixth appearance including fifth start.

GYM: UGA Earns NCAA Seattle Regional Bid

The 10th-seeded University of Georgia gymnastics team earned a berth into the NCAA postseason and will compete at the NCAA Seattle Regional held April 3-6 at Alaska Airlines Arena, the NCAA announced Monday.
The Seattle Regional will begin on Thursday, April 3, with the first round featuring Illinois and UC Davis at 2 p.m. ET. The winner will advance to the second round on Friday, April 4.
Round two will be split into two sessions. Session I will include No. 7 seed Missouri, No. 10 seed Georgia, Arizona, and Arizona State at 1 p.m. ET. Session II will feature No. 2 seed Oklahoma, No. 15 seed Auburn, and Nebraska, as well as the first-round winner at 7 p.m. ET.
The top two teams from each second-round session will advance to the Regional Final at 5 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 6.
The top two teams from the Regional Final will advance to NCAA Championships April 17 and 19 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
In 40 all-time regional appearances, Georgia has won 24 regional championships and finished second 12 times. Georgia last advanced to the NCAA Championship in 2019 through the Athens Regional with a score of 198.050.
