BSB: Dawgs Fall To Kennesaw

Fourth-ranked Georgia fell to Kennesaw State, 10-7, on Tuesday afternoon at Foley Field.

  • Graduate student Thomas Ellisen (0-2) got the start for the Bulldogs, pitching three innings, tallying five strikeouts, and only allowing two runs.
  • Kennesaw State’s Aaron Posey grounded out to bring home the first run of the game in the second. The Owls held the Bulldogs scoreless through six innings.
  • Right-hander Grant Edwards came in in relief in the fourth inning, inheriting two base runners after walks from Mason Kosowick.

Opponent Outlook
Mercer enters the midweek clash at 13-15 overall with a 1-2 nod in conference. The Bears opened the conference slate by hosting Samford at Sikes Field. After taking game one 6-4, the Samford Bulldogs rebounded with successive road victories to take the series.

Katherine Rearley leads Mercer with 15 appearances this season in the circle, including four starts. Two-way Grace Jones owns a team-best 5.58 ERA in 10 appearances with six starts, having pitched 37.2 innings with 41 hits, 30 earned runs, 27 walks and 38 strikeouts to sit at 3-2. Grace Roark, 2-5 this campaign, has a 6.43 ERA through 37.0 innings pitched with 63 hits, 34 earned runs, 17 walks and 17 strikeouts.

In the batter’s box, Olivia Lenzen paces the Bears’ offense with a .371 average – 10th best in her conference – to go with 23 hits, 10 runs, 10 RBIs, five doubles and three home runs. Head coach Chris Kuhlmeyer is in his first season at the helm with Mercer and his 15th overall as a head coach. His previous stops include UMBC and Belmont.
