Georgia’s Robbie Burnett has been named the Southeastern Conference Baseball Player of the Week; the league announced Monday.

Burnett, a 5-10, 191-pound senior infielder/outfielder from Franklinton, N.C., batted .667 (8-for-12) with eight runs scored, two doubles, two home runs and nine RBI in leading Georgia to an SEC series win over No. 23 Kentucky. The Wildcats entered the series with the nation’s second-ranked pitching staff including a 1.89 ERA.

In the series-clinching win Sunday, Burnett reached base in all six plate appearances, going 4-for-4 with a career-high 5 RBI. In game one of the series Friday, he provided the go-ahead RBI-single in the sixth inning. The Bulldogs once trailed 6-2 and scored 10 unanswered runs over the final five frames for the victory. Overall, Burnett posted a 1.333 slugging percentage and a .750 on base percentage against the Wildcats.

Burnett and sophomore Tre Phelps have reached base safely in all 23 games for the Bulldogs this season. For the year, Burnett is batting .414 with 11 home runs and 36 RBI. His .620 on base percentage ranks second nationally, his .986 slugging percentage ranks fourth nationally, and he leads the country with 16 hit by pitches. This marks the second week in a row a Bulldog has been honored by the league as Burnett’s roommate, Rylan Zaborowski, earned SEC and National Player of the Week for March 10.
