Key Quotes
Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Wes Johnson
On Sunday’s action
“We need to play a clean baseball game, and that will be our focus on Thursday. If we play a clean baseball game today, we win this one. We need to execute our pitches in leverage counts. When you get your fastball, get off you’re ‘A’ swing. Play good defense and not make stupid baserunning mistakes. Everybody is good in our league. We scored a ton of runs in the first game of the series, but I’ve said it all the time, you get a big win on a Friday night, you don’t get to celebrate for four or five days. You’ve got to turn right around and play the next day and the day after that. We’ve got to mature a little bit in that after we have a good night.”

The University of Georgia softball team is headed to the Durham Regional to begin the 2025 NCAA Softball Tournament, it was announced Sunday evening.

“We’re excited for another opportunity to play, we never take it for granted,” head coach Tony Baldwin said. “It’s a great field, and we’re excited to go compete. Coastal Carolina has had a great season and an exciting run in their championship tournament. We’re going to get back to work in the next couple of days, then we’ll head up to Durham and start playing.”
The Durham Regional is paired with the Gainesville Regional, hosted by No. 3 Florida. The winner of each regional will face off in the NCAA Super Regional round May 22-25 in a best-of-three series for a spot in the 2025 Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
Georgia and Duke have matched up twice in recent NCAA Tournament history, in 2021 and 2022. Nationally seeded Duke came to Athens in 2021, and Georgia started its run to OKC, taking down the Blue Devils in the regional round. Georgia traveled to Durham in 2022 in Tony Baldwin’s first season as head coach. Georgia worked its way through the elimination bracket to force a winner-take-all game seven, but the Blue Devils outlasted the Dogs en route to their first Super Regional berth.
The 2025 NCAA Tournament will be the Bulldogs’ 23rd consecutive appearance. Georgia will look to make a run to its sixth Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City. Georgia holds an 80-45 all-time record in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs have advanced to 12 Super Regionals in the program’s history. Georgia has advanced to back-to-back Super Regional rounds in the last two seasons.
Georgia enters the NCAA Tournament with a 31-20 record in 2025. This will be the fourth NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Tony Baldwin.
