Georgia’s Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Wes Johnson

On the NCAA Athens Regional…

“As all the regionals are, they are tough. You look at Army, who we have tomorrow, they are all we are locked in on. They can really pitch. They are very, very sound defensively. They have got some guys with some power. They have some guys who can run and steal bases. It is another league weekend is the way we are looking at it. UNC Wilmington is extremely, extremely offensive. They have some really good starters. Georgia Tech, we have played them already. They are a team who is really offensive. I really like their bullpen and what they do with some things matching up.”

Georgia infielder/outfielder Charlie Condon

On the importance of hosting the NCAA Athens Regional…

“Everyone is very comfortable playing at home. To bring it back here, giving the city of Athens and the University of Georgia the postseason attention that it has been needing to have the past couple of years. This is where this program belongs to be, an every year Regional and Super Regional host. For the older guys, it is really about establishing a culture for this program moving forward. There is a lot of history behind it and a bright future.

Georgia outfielder/infielder Corey Collins

On the mindset of hosting and preparing for the NCAA Athens Regional…

“We are excited that we brought it back here. We had a great season. We had some doubt early, but it turned out to be a great season. We always talk about stock here, whether it goes up or down, and we have a lot of good guys that have driven our stock up. (The NCAA) blessed us with a seven (seed), and we get to stay here in Athens, the best city.”
