MGOLF: Dawg Compete in Colonial Collegiate Invitational Today
The Georgia men’s golf team will continue the fall portion of its schedule this week in the Colonial Collegiate Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas.
Lineup: Senior Trent Phillips; juniors Nicolas Cassidy and Ben van Wyk; and freshmen Buck Brumlow and Maxwell Ford.
Field: Georgia, Oklahoma, Clemson, Oklahoma State, Texas, Stanford, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Pepperdine, Florida, Baylor, Oregon, San Diego State, Wake Forest, TCU, Southern Cal.
Schedule and format: The tournament will open Monday with 36 holes and will conclude on Tuesday with 18 holes. Teams will have lineups of five players, with the low four counting.
Rankings: No. 13 Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll; No. 17 GolfChannel.com; No. 19 Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings.
Course: Colonial Country Club (par 70, 7,204 yards).
Live Results: Golfstat will provide team and individual results, pairings, and tee times.
Last Time: This will be just the second event of the year for the Bulldogs as the Scenic City Collegiate slated for Sept. 20-21 was rained out. Phillips placed second and the Bulldogs came in sixth as the Bulldogs opened the season in The Carmel Cup in Pebble Beach, Calif.
Coach Chris Haack Says: “Since we got rained out, we have not had a chance to see a couple of the younger guys play under pressure. We want them to be comfortable, to relax, to get loose, to let it go, and to go in with the attitude of just having some fun. Colonial can be an intimidating golf course because it’s so tight, but if you hit good shots, play smart, and position yourself in the right spots, you’ll be fine.”
