Up Next: No. 28 Ryan Colby and No. 64 Miguel Perez Peña will face each other in the semifinals of the singles draw at 10:00 a.m. E.T. The winner of that match will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championships in November. Cyrus Mahjoob will face John Bernard (Florida Atlantic) in the consolation semifinals at 10:00 a.m. E.T. In the doubles quarterfinals, No. 2 Blaydes/Ratiu will face Jenicek/Havlicek (Florida Atlantic), No. 33 Paulsell/Colby will face Nirurndorn/Jefferson (Florida), and No. 44 Perez Peña/Pinto Sansano will face Arora/Clement (Georgia Tech). All three doubles matches are set to start at 1:00 p.m. E.T.

WTEN: Bulldogs Earn Six Wins at ITA Southeast Regionals Day Two

ATLANTA/MACON, Ga. — The Georgia women’s tennis team picked up six wins on the second day of action at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex on Friday.

ITA Southeast Regional Championships – Day 1

  1. Opening the day with doubles, the tandem of Sofia Rojas and Hayden Mulberry set the tone for the Bulldogs with an 8-6 victory over Kennesaw State’s Terezia Barianakova and Laura Nadaska.
  2. #106 Sofia Rojas returned shortly after for her first singles match of the competition where she faced off against North Florida’s Anslee Long. Rojas’ strong start propelled her ahead to a 6-2 first set win before taking control of the second set and match, winning 6-2, 6-3.
  3. #75 Guillermina Grant returned to action as she took on North Florida’s Aryana Bartlett. The match was a back-and-forth battle from the start with the first set going to a tiebreaker, dominated by Grant to earn the frame at 7-6(1). The second set proved to be just as competitive, with a close one coming down to the wire late before Grant avoided a second breaker, securing the match 7-6(1), 7-5.
  4. Coming off a qualifying round victory on Thursday, Hayden Mulberry faced a stronger test in Georgia Tech’s 3-seed and #51 Kylie Bilchev. A tightly contested first set brought out Mulberry’s best as she pulled out the first set 7-5 to take a set lead. Heading into the second, all momentum remained on the Bulldog’s side as Mulberry earned her career highest-ranked win, taking the match 7-5, 6-2.
  5. #94 Aysegul Mert opened her day in the afternoon with a round of 64 match against FSU’s Eva Shaw. Mert was sharp through two sets, taking control of the match while overcoming some close games before cruising past to a 6-2, 6-4 win.
  6. In the qualifying consolation round of 16, Sarah Branicki returned to action as she faced Florida Atlantic’s Maya Shanok. A dominant first set saw Branicki take a one-set lead at 6-1 before advancing due to retirement from Shanok. 

ITF W100 Macon

  1. Coming off four wins in as many days, Dasha Vidmanova’s run in Macon came to an end after falling 6-3, 6-0 to WTA #99 Anna Blinkova.
