The Bulldogs, under the direction of Ike Cousins head coach Scott Stricklin have been split into two squads via a draft. The Red team will be coached by Scott Daeley with Garrett Brown serving as the captain. The Black team will be coached by Brock Bennett and Will Childers serving as the captain. Sophomore left-hander Jaden Woods will start for the Red team Friday while the Black team will counter with sophomore left-hander Liam Sullivan. The starting pitchers for the final two games have not been announced.
“We have depth at every position, and it’s been a very healthy atmosphere during the fall,” said Stricklin. “I’m happy with the way everyone has responded to the competition. I feel good about our pitching staff. We returned a lot of experience and added some talented pitchers, so we have depth there too. There’s been a lot of leadership. The veterans have been helping the younger guys. It’s nice to have a lot of older guys who know what’s going on and how we like to do things.”
The Bulldogs have 29 returning lettermen, four players that were redshirted last season plus 14 newcomers. Georgia’s incoming recruiting class has been ranked as high as 15th nationally.
