BSB: Fall World Series Begins Today
The University of Georgia baseball team will hold a Fall World Series over a four-day span starting Thursday at Athens Academy. First pitch at Jansen Field will be at 1 p.m.
Due to ongoing stadium renovations at Foley Field, the team has been holding fall workouts at Athens Academy.
The cumulative score of all three games will determine the winning squad. Thursday’s action at Jansen Field will be seven innings followed by a planned nine-inning affair on Friday at 1 p.m. There is no game Saturday. The final day of action starts Sunday at noon. The series is free and open to the public.
A draft was held Monday when Red team leader graduate outfielder Nolan McCarthy and Black team leader senior catcher/outfielder Henry Hunter announced their selections in front of the team. Thursday’s starting pitching matchup features junior left-hander Alton Davis II versus redshirt freshman right-hander Paul Farley.
Georgia is in year two under the direction of Ike Cousins head baseball coach Wes Johnson. Last season, the Bulldogs posted a 43-17 record and final national ranking of No. 10.
