During the second half of the Georgia-Vanderbilt game on Saturday, redshirt freshman running back Zamir White made his much anticipated collegiate debut for the Bulldogs. White wearing No. 3 came in for junior De’Andre Swift (7) with about 9:40 to go in the third quarter. Players and fans were both excited and happy for “Zeus” as he has had to face adversity to just get to this point to get on the field and play. On Monday afternoon, Swift shared what it meant for him and the team to see White play.

“I was happy for him, real happy for him. Real excited. I think everybody was as ya’ll could see,” said Swift. “That man worked so hard to get back on the field. He hadn’t played football in so long; so, for him just to get back out there, I’m sure it was great for his confidence as well.”

Swift also had praise for fellow running back Brian Herrien. The senior actually started ahead of Swift, but that doesn’t seem to matter. Swift says that it doesn’t matter which of the running backs starts or if how many carries they the each get because they want to see each other win.

“That was a cool moment. Everyone wants to see each other win no matter who is starting. Everyone is going to get the amount of touches needed to win the game,” said Swift. “So, we just go into games according to the game plan we have that game knowing we just want to see each other win.”

Swift along with Herrien, White, and the rest of the Bulldog running backs will get an opportunity to test Murray State’s defense as Georgia is set to host the Racers for a 4:00 p.m. EST kickoff in Athens this Saturday on September 7th.
