Bulldawg Illustrated intern Savannah Richardson, a senior in the Grady College of Journalism at UGA, takes a look at Saturday’s Georgia vs. Missouri game. Here are her ‘Dawg Bones.’

 

OFFENSE DAWG BONE: GEORGIA

 
Georgia averages 268.3 rushing yards a game, so the Dawg Bone goes to the Bulldogs rush game alone. Sony Michel and Nick Chubb are in sync with the offensive line and are some of the most vital keys to the Bulldogs attack. Chubb averages 103 yards a game while Michel averages 81.50. “Thunder and Lightning” are just two of five backs, Georgia also has D’Andre Swift, Brian Herrien, and Elijah Holyfield. With that many choices, the Bulldog’s run game is what gives them such an advantage against teams. However, much of the running backs success should be credited to the offensive line though, they open up holes and make that run game happen.
 
 
However, the Bulldogs must continue to incorporate more of a passing game. As Georgia heads deeper into SEC play, the harder it will be to run the ball. Jake Fromm must continue to make the right decisions and plays with his arm. Fans saw what he could do with the deep ball last week, and that is something they need to utilize and execute against Missouri. If Georgia wants to continue to win and stay undefeated, they must produce at least 175 pass yards a game. The Missouri game will be the prime opportunity to work on this and perfect it.
 

DEFENSE DAWG BONE: GEORGIA

 
Two touchdowns in 21 days are all that Georgia’s defense allowed. Georgia will be without two key defensive starters for Missouri. Trenton Thompson and Natrez Patrick will all miss their second game due to injury and disciplinary issues. Without these two, Georgia must fill their void and find the next man in line. The Bulldogs allow their opponents to score on average just 10 points a game. Georgia’s rush defense gives up only 86 yards and 156.67 pass yards. The Bulldogs keep chopping as they contain Drew Lock and Damarea Crockett from establishing a run or pass game.
 

SPECIAL TEAMS DAWG BONE: GEORGIA

 
The special teams unit for Georgia continues to get better each week. Cameron Nizialeck continues to bomb punts as he nailed a career long one of 59 last week. He continues to flip the field for the Bulldogs and put the defense in commanding positions to make the stops. Rodrigo contributes as well kicking 29 touchbacks this season and keeping the opponent deep in their territory. As long as Blankenship and Nizialeck continue to flip fields and keep competitors out of Bulldog territory, Georgia wins the special teams bone easily.
 

COACHING DAWG BONE: GEORGIA

 
There is something special about this team, this coach and what they have going for them this season. Kirby Smart has gotten his team to buy into the program, commit to excellence and handle any adversity thrown their way. He’s done something that hasn’t been done since 2005, and that’s going 6-0. Things are different around here, and it is all thanks to Smart himself.
If he continues this, Georgia’s team could be extraordinary.
 

OVERALL DAWG BONE: GEORGIA

 
The Bulldogs head home for their homecoming game after a tough two weeks in Tennessee. A 7:30 kickoff, the fifth of the season, and the team has an opportunity to go 7-0 and stay at the No. 1 spot in the East standings. I think Smart and company will have this team ready to go and showing no mercy against Missouri.
