The Georgia Bulldogs held their 12th practice of the spring session this afternoon, a 2 1/2-hour scrimmage at Sanford Stadium and their last such rehearsal before the annual G-Day intrasquad game next Saturday.
 
 

 
 
In the assessment of head coach Kirby Smart, the Georgia offense enjoyed the upper hand against its counterparts on defense. ”I won’t say the offense dominated, but I will say it won the scrimmage,” he said. ”It’s a little disappointing because at our last practice on Thursday, we challenged our defense. Today, we protected the quarterback better on offense, but at the same time we didn’t affect the quarterback very well on defense.”
 
 
Smart directed much praise toward Georgia’s rushing offense, singling out redshirt freshman tailback Tae Crowder and veteran Sony Michel for their performances. He also named wideouts Michael Chigbu and Jayson Stanley for their blocking prowess.
 
 
”We ran the ball well today,” Smart said. ”They were physical at the point of attack, which was surprising given our limited number of backs. I can’t say it was because we ran the ball well or it was because we couldn’t stop the run.”
 
 
The Bulldogs will conduct two more practices next week, on Tuesday and Thursday, before the G-Day game Saturday. The annual intrasquad game will conclude Georgia’s spring practices. That contest will be televised nationally on ESPNU, with Dave Neal calling the play-by-play, former Georgia All-American and Academic All-American Matt Stinchcomb serving as color analyst and Shannon Spake handling the role as sideline reporter.
