Coming off a huge emotional victory in South Bend against the Irish, the Georgia Bulldogs march into week three at 2-0 and need to keep the positive momentum moving forward against the Samford Bulldogs of the Southern Conference. The FCS foe should not pose a real threat to upend Georgia’s season, but the red and black Bulldogs need to avoid a letdown and leave no doubt on the field. Hopefully, a rowdy home crowd can keep guys pumped to come out and dominate.

This game gives the Georgia offense an opportunity to build confidence heading into SEC play. We have yet to see this offense fire on all cylinders early in the season, but Georgia can use this week to continue to develop an identity and consistency throughout all phases of its’ attack. Jake Fromm’s growth will be fundamental to the offense taking the next step.
 
 
Speaking of confidence, Samford will look to build off of a strong outing against their last SEC foe. In 2016, the Samford Bulldogs put up a whopping 41 points as they took Mississippi State all the way to the wire. Currently, at 2-0, we shouldn’t expect them to just lay down.
 
 
However, if all goes as planned, Georgia should also be able to play many of their young guys and get them valuable, in-game experience. They need to get as many minutes as possible to further acclimate to the speed of the college game.
 
 
All in all, Georgia needs to avoid any kind of hangover from the Notre Dame game and execute against a lesser opponent. We need to let the young guys shine in front of a loud crowd on Saturday night.
 
 
Georgia faces a tough challenge refocusing their energy on a Samford squad sandwiched in-between a road trip for the ages and the beginning of conference play. Kirby Smart and staff preach the chopping wood mentality for this exact reason. The players must keep their minds on the task at hand. Far too often, you see teams play down to their opponents in similar situations. This game can be a building block for future success or a frustrating experience that could hurt morale.
