The Georgia Bulldogs are set to lose quite a bit of talent at the running back position after this upcoming 2021 season. Zamir White and James Cook will undoubtedly being moving on to the pros after the 2021 campaign after returning for unfinished business. Kenny McIntosh could even be in a position to move on to the next level if he makes his way to the top of the Georgia depth chart this season. Regardless, whether it’s 2 or 3 backs that Georgia will have to replace, the running back position is one of great importance in the class of 2022. I would expect the Dawgs to take 2 highly coveted, all-purpose backs in the class and Jordan James out of Murfreesboro, Tennessee is one that not only fits that description to perfection, but also has a lengthy and strong relationship with Dell McGee and the Georgia staff. I recently caught up with Jordan James to get an update on his recruitment.

First and foremost, James expressed frustration with the NCAA decision to extend the dead period. “Yeah, that’s a bummer. I was looking forward to visiting a few places,” said James. Another thing that James made clear was that he is feeling the Dawgs’ recruiting pitch at this point and time. “I like where I stand with Georgia right now… It’s fair to say Georgia is near the top,” continued James. The 4-Star back out of the Volunteer State also has his eye on Oklahoma and Tennessee. However, a recent Zoom call with Kirby Smart and the Georgia staff definitely has built some momentum for the red and black.

In that Zoom, there were elements of UGA’s presentation that Jordan James was a big fan of. “I loved the new facilities that are being built. I love that they want you to succeed outside of football and I loved getting to meet everyone,” said James. The Oakland High School standout that helped lead his team to a state championship and eclipsed 1700 yards rushing this year also listed two other key elements to his consideration of Georgia as his possible collegiate home. “I like the history of Georgia, especially for running backs. Me and Coach McGee have a solid relationship also,” shared James.

Jordan James is used to performing his best on the biggest stages. He scored 6 touchdowns in the State Championship victory for his Oakland squad back in December. It certainly seems like James and Georgia would a tremendous mutual fit, but there is a long way to go in the class of 2022 with the lack of visits that have been allowed due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, it seems that Georgia has positioned themselves quite nicely with one of the best all around backs in the country in the class of 2022 once visits are allowed to commence. According to James, he’s not set on a certain timeline, but the good faith built up by McGee, Smart, and the Dawgs so far is an encouraging sign for the running back position going forward.
