The first week of on-campus recruiting wound down yesterday. Based on the public reactions of recruits, things went very well for the Bulldogs. One should note that it is very rare for a recruit to be publicly dissatisfied with a recruiting visit, but the feedback after the first week appeared enthusiastic.

Lu Harris-Champer hangs it up after 25 years
Georgia’s long-serving softball coach hung up her cleats yesterday after 25 years, 21 of those at UGA. Harris-Champer’s run to the WCWS has to feel especially good given the team’s relatively bad season before the playoffs. Sometimes it is about when the wins come rather than the total number. Harris-Champer had a great career and built the Georgia Softball program from the ground up. Now comes Josh Brooks’ first head coach search.
We have a coaching search that will tell us how the new A.D. views the “non-revenue” sports. Softball actually is a non-revenue sport at UGA, at least in terms of admissions. Georgia’s softball has not charged admission to its games. However, most SEC schools have recognized the softball’s substantial following softball charge $10 or more adults.
