Social media. It’s a necessary evil it seems in the world of recruiting today. This generation of standout athletes has never known a world that doesn’t consist of the sensationalizing of recruiting news that comes with a single Tweet, Instagram post, or more recently a TikTok. Coaching staffs have entire support staffs and in their recruiting departments that are majorly tuned in to following what is going on with targets on social media and also appealing to major interests through things such as edits and other recruiting material that they know these young men will want to repost. Heck, even Kirby Smart, who is probably about half a step behind Nick Saban on how much he likes people bringing attention to themselves, is known to be scouring his phone, liking Tweets from key targets he follows.
2 prospects in the 2022 that Kirby Smart himself and several other recruiting staff and coaching staff members at Georgia follow on Twitter have made some interesting Dawg related posts lately. 5-Star safety Kamari Wilson out of IMG Academy and 4-Star offensive lineman from Lee County (GA) Qaeshon Sapp both intimated at interest for the Dawgs for the world to see on their social media platforms in the past few days.

However, in the case of Sapp, we know that Smart himself has an affinity for prospects out of south Georgia, having come from Bainbridge, Georgia, himself. Sapp has said in interviews recently that Georgia and Smart have done as good of a job as anybody relating to him and his family. At 6’4″ 310, coming from a successful high school program, and having good mobility, Sapp could be a swing player on the offensive line at the next level and that is certainly appealing to Matt Luke and the Georgia staff.
Kamari Wilson would just be a result of continuing the IMG Academy to Athens pipeline that has been flowing quite well as of late. In the 2021 class alone, Georgia signed 3 players from IMG in Lovasea Carroll, Xavian Sorey, and Marlin Dean. Nolan Smith and Warren Brinson, of the 2019 and 2020 classes respectively, also have come to Athens via the powerhouse academy in Bradenton, Florida. Georgia already has an impressive pair of defensive back commitments in the class of 2022 with Deyon Bouie and Marquis Groves-Killebrew. If Georgia is able to assert themselves as a contender for the #1 ranked safety in the 2022 cycle in Wilson, suddenly the depth issues that Georgia faces in the secondary in the 2021 season will look to be a short lived issue.
