Let’s just call it what it is. Georgia got outplayed, and at times outcoached, in the second half of the Alabama game. Turnovers, untimely penalties, and some mental errors turned a highly competitive contest into a convicning victory for the Crimson Tide. However, while there is plenty to clean up after this game, there is also plenty to build on.

Georgia ran for 145 yards on 30 carries against Alabama. The offensive line was getting movement and the backs seemed to do well setting up and using their blocking. It just seemed that the rhythm wasn’t fully there. Alabama did a good job of mixing man and zone coverages and giving the appearance of a loaded box at times. Todd Monken gets paid a lot of money to call the Georgia offense, and by no means am I second guessing the Bulldog Offensive Coordinator, but it have been nice to see run game leaned on a little heavier when the Alabama defense was fatigued.

Georgia will grow from this defeat. Also, the SEC schedule change that gives UGA a bye week this upcoming week is a great thing. This was a physical contest and all of Georgia’s players will be able to recuperate. Georgia also has a ton of young players on the offensive side of the that are continuing to make improvements in terms of the mental aspect of the game. Execution is key, but Jermaine Burton, Kendall Milton, and even Stetson Bennett IV do a lot of things to be excited about.

Georgia is deep and they are talented. The Bulldog roster is going to be superior to every team left on the schedule. Georgia will be favored and everything is still out in front of them. UGA has run the table with their backs against the wall in years past and they’ll be looking to do the same, as favorites, to get a rematch with Alabama.
