The class of 2022 recruiting cycle is going to be unpredictable and fast-moving. Never has there been a class of prospects that will need more in-person evaluation this late into the recruitment process. There will be prospects who originally had everyone very excited about their potential and ability as freshmen and sophomores that will not have improved or grown as much as expected. Conversely, there will be those that have gone under the radar and will burst onto the scene during “camp season.” Offers will come later than usual. However, the adage of late offers meaning significant interest by both parties still holds. One of the latest 2022 prospects to receive an offer from the University of Georgia is Devin Moore, a safety from Naples, Florida.
Devin Moore released a Top 7 back on March 5th. In it was Florida, Miami, Stanford, Alabama, Notre Dame, Florida State, and Cincinnati.
At 6’3″ 190 pounds, Moore has the size and skillset to be used in a versatile manner in defensive backfields on the Power 5 level. Moore is used primarily as a cornerback at the high school level but has the size and cover skills to be used inside as a nickel or dime corner versus tight ends, slot receivers, or running backs. While Moore is not overly violent or physical in his style of play, he does possess fluidity in his hips and good eye discipline. The Naples native plays the ball well in the air without committing pass interference.
As is the case with all prospects, the visits are paramount. If the South Florida DB makes a trip to the Classic City this summer or fall, then it’s time to be on commitment watch. Until then, temper expectations. However, this offer is intriguing, with major defensive back prospects such as Kamari Wilson, Daylen Everette, and Keon Sabb set to make visits and Buford (GA) Safety Jake Pope likely to as well.
