Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins is a highly coveted defensive tackle out of Gaffney, South Carolina. Ingram-Dawkins, known by many as TID, made headlines on Monday by announcing that he has made his college decision and will be making that decision public on Friday.
I will be committing this Friday October 30th. #GodsPlan
— Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins (@TINGDAWK90) October 26, 2020
TID is a 6’6″ 300+ pound defensive tackle that has the agility and explosiveness of a power forward. That’s not a coincidence either. A year ago, the 4-Star interior lineman was under 6’4″ and just over 260 pounds. At that weight and size TID was a talented basketball player as well as a football standout. With the amount of size that Ingram-Dawkins has added, combined with the athleticism he possesses, it’s easy to see why teams like Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Alabama have all been vying for his commitment throughout his recruitment. In the past month it has seemed like a 3 team race between Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Georgia disposed of Tennessee in dominant fashion, and while the Dawgs have not faced the Gamecocks yet, it’s clear that the momentum and the stability of those two programs are headed in opposite directions.
Tray Scott has been extremely consistent in his recruit of Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins. By all accounts the two have built a strong bond and in talking to other recruits I’ve come to know that learn Scott comes across as genuine and establishes commonality and care with recruits away from football. This relationship and the fact that the Bulldogs’ main two contenders in South Carolina and Tennessee have each suffered multiple blowout losses just before the announcement of his commitment date leads me to believe that Georgia is poised to add TID to it’s 2021 class.
If Georgia does land Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins it will be a big boost to the interior defensive line depth for the Dawgs in 2021. Malik Herring, Jordan Davis, Devonte Wyatt, and Julian Rochester are all more likely than not to leave the program for the pros, despite this year not counting towards any player’s eligibility due to COVID-19. TID would join Elberton, Georgia native Marlin Dean in the defensive tackle position group in the 2021 class. Such an addition would likely leave Georgia with one more spot to fill in the middle of the defensive line in 2021.
A quick glance through all the threads, it looks like JT Daniels is transferring next week.#
You might need a few more #############’s in there! Just sayin!

From what I understand, UF had to shut it down and not practice for 2 weeks? I wonder how sharp they’ll be this week.
Might have to cancel Mizzou then
They can’t as there are no more open weeks to make it up. If it’s not played this weekend, then they’ll only play 9 conference games as every weekend between now and the SECCG is already filled with a game for UF.
Gators would have to forfeit the game.
If they’re having major C-19 issues (that were not of their own making) but still in contention for winning the SECE division title, I’d find it hard to believe that the SEC would enforce a forfeiture ruling on them when the SEC has said all along that it’ll do the right thing for player safety. I don’t know what the ‘fix’ would be, but don’t think it’d be an automatic forfeiture.
“That were not of their own making”. That is the operative statement. I find it hard to believe they are the only team that is having this many issues and they are 100% in compliance.
Somebody has been out on the town or doing some partying.
Until someone proves ‘that they were of their own making,’ I think the assumption is that they weren’t. The trip to a&m required air travel, hotel accommodations, bus transport, etc., so there were many, many places where an initial infection could have occurred and could have spread among players because of being confined in small spaces breathing the same air.
word on the street is there were quite a few parties attended by players
Most of the discussion in this thread today is based on word off the street. While it’s certainly possible that UF players attended events that they shouldn’t have, it’s equally plausible that they contracted the virus on the trip to TX.
If, as a result of Kirby allowing players to travel home (or somewhere outside of the football facility) this past weekend during our bye, a player hypothetically brings C-19 back into the BM complex and a bunch of our players contract the virus, that activity occurred outside of football. Accordingly, should that result in an automatic forfeiture if one or more of our games are cancelled?
Never said I had proof. What I did say is that they have an unusually high rate of infections and recurrence or new infections. Since they are not the only team that has travelled this year. And we are not seeing this same level of infections and recurrence in other teams. Someone should step in and ask WHY! If they are following all protocols Great. IF not then why should other teams continue to be “punished” for their lack of compliance. IF they are not following all protocols then they should be punished as an team!
That is all I said.
How does my use of the word ‘someone’ make it specifically attributable to you?
All teams have to report compliance with SEC protocols weekly so I’m assuming UF doesn’t get a special exception for this rule. I’m also assuming that the SEC is asking the ‘why’ question, if for no other reason than to utilize any information that they can obtain from those inquiries to try to keep athletes on other teams safe by not repeating any missteps that UF might have made. However, to assume that UF did something wrong simply because they’ve had a high infection rate is illogical as a superspreader event can happen at a single location, as facts have proven during the entirety of this pandemic.
Somebody partying and not following rules! SEC needs to step in and find out why and set forth sanctions up to forfeiting a game to bring all schools into compliance. Those many cases do not just happen!
Wasn’t Mullen bragging not to long ago about having no Covid-19 positive tests for a few months?
Pretty much all the talk about QBs at UGA is rooted in speculation. I don’t even like talking to people who start regurgitating the Eason/Fromm, Fromm/Fields stuff.
Smart has always struck me as a pragmatic thinker. The idea he wouldn’t play the player who gives the team the best chance at winning seems remarkably out of character. Most of these theories are just rooted in frustration.
I do think we had some offensive issues the past few seasons that Smart has addressed with coaching changes. Those changes appear to be working, but elite QBs aren’t a birthright. UGA appears to be recruiting well in that regard, but that doesn’t guarantee you always have on available to start.
Just FYI, in regards to this new commenting system, regardless of the device. It is best not to let too many new comments build up before clicking on that icon. If I let more than 15 build up, the system just seems to hang and freeze and I have to reload the page.
Which icon?
I was going to attach an image but it won’t let me now.
all you have to do is paste the image url and click post comment
file:///C:/Users/dabob/Downloads/2020-10-22%20screenshot%20005.jpg
that’s the address of the file on your system. email it to me.
I’m on my phone at the moment in the waiting area at the Imaging Center; so, I’ll worry about it later. The icon is the round red one with the white text bubble in it, lower left on my phone (also on my desktop at home). It shows the number of comments and when there are new comments, it shows how many. If you click on it, it loads the new comments.
My point was that I’ve noticed if there a more than 15 new comments to load, the system takes a long time to load them or just hangs. I’ve experienced this both on my phone and on the desktop.
I’ve experienced the same issue as you with regards to comments. If the unread # gets too large (I’ve never tried to figure out the magical number that tips the scales), the system seems to ‘spin’ (actually, in the upper righthand corner of the screen, there are 3 or 4 little bars that are showing that the platform is ‘spinning’) trying to identify the new/unread comments. Then, I just have to refresh the browser to get the content to reload.
@168 I’ve reduced the size of the image to 75 kb (720×405) and it still says it is too big.
size is not the dimensions, rather it is about the storage size in megabytes. I have it set to require a photo under 2 mb
You may want to recheck the settings because I’m getting an error message for files under 2 mb. I just tried a file under 100 kb.
I did – it’s 2 mb
I just tried again after restarting my phone and clearing the cache. Still no bueno. I’m getting the following size restriction message for a 80 kb jpeg that is 960×540: “Size restriction, try uploading an image with smaller width/height
well, 960 is wider than the commenting section, so that might be the reason. I’m looking at it now
That makes sense. I realize you might have changed the settings from earlier in the week, but I was able to post images that were as large as 1920 x 1080 last week.
I didn’t mean for it to take up this much time.
no prob. not sure what has changed, right now

I hate hearing that any kid is injured, particularly when it’s serious enough to be out for an entire season. I was pinning my hopes on PSU being one of the only teams in the B1G that might play OSU competitively, but I don’t see that happening.

Agree with Pollack. Bama’s not winning it all this year. Waddle was a difference maker, most dynamic position player in college football. My hot take is Saban has won his last natty. Unless you’re a juco, he’s probably not going to be your coach when you leave. How many coaches were good in their 70s?
only one i can think of is bowden. Maybe mack brown
Yep and he tailed off a good bit. Hard to convince recruits to come when you’re 70, and they aren’t sure that you’ll be the coach for their whole time there.
Actually Bowden didn’t really start experiencing national success until his 60s and continuing into his 70s (he won his 2nd natty when he was 70).
Doesn’t seem to be hindering his recruiting class this year as they have five 5* players committed and are #1 at the moment by a fairly wide margin.
Yep. So far he’s defying the odds. Had a great career but the clock is winding down and it’s going to get harder for him trying to win one more imho
That was my thought also. Keep recruiting at these levels and more will follow. Wonder if the recruiting pitch is getting to be one of the last having Saban as your coach. Not many years left.. not many more will have that honor and ability to brag about when they are older.. kind of like playing for Bear Bryant.. playing for the legend
Yep, because clem&son will beat in the natty game this year
Them.
Good afternoon BI.
Hey Bob. How’s it going?
Good. About to head in for a cardiovascular MRI with contrast.
You always keep it interesting… Good luck with your contrasting colors and keep us informed.
It’s just a check up. I had some myocarditis from the COVID-19 infection.
have fun drinking that stale sprite. lol
just had some over the summer for mediastinitis. Starting to feel i need another round of antibiotics since i feel it again
Hey Bob.
Hey Bob , great to see you on
Just had a wisdom tooth pulled! One more to go in a couple of weeks
I am getting one of mine pulled out in a month.
i got lucky and none of mine came in
I still have all 4 of mine. Whenever I visit a new dentist, it kinda freaks them out as very few people have all of their teeth.
must live in tenn if it freaks them out##
It’s called a tooth brush and not teeth brush for a reason in Tennessee
I think that most dentists preference is to remove them to prevent overcrowding, etc., so very few people have all 4 of their wisdom teeth. My bottom teeth got pushed around a little when those wisdom teeth grew out fully and they will get infected about once every 2 years (which, at first, I confused with an ear ache given how close those teeth are to the ear canal) but other than that, I’ve largely not had problems with them so my dentist saw no point in pulling them.
I too was born without wisdom ###
Same here Rummy, mine are there but that did not come in.
So that is why you don’t trust the Dawgs?
Seems like Rusty was implying that we could see JTD transfer out if he doesn’t get a shot at some playing time the next few weeks? Which is weird bc I heard his own doc hasn’t cleared him yet?
I’ll have to look at that. I’ll just say that I have been told that JTD’s situation is exactly as you describe with his doctor. You have a link?
On the doctor just word of mouth but here is the link to Rusty’s thread last night: https://247sports.com/college/georgia/board/19/Contents/recap-ask-rusty-153695695/
Found it – and he said it directly with the qualifier “From what I’m hearing now…”
While I know that Kirby hates divulging info. outside the program and may be slightly limited on what he can say regarding JTDs knee (as this might be considered a HIPPA privacy issue), I think he’d really do himself a favor here by just stating whether it’s JTDs injury keeping him out of starting/major PT consideration and/or whether he just hasn’t been able to beat SB out during the ongoing QB competition. I know that Kirby doesn’t run his program to appease the fanbase but at times, a bit of clarity can go a long way in helping an extremely rabid and loyal fanbase understand what’s occurring in a very confusing situation pertaining to the absolute most important position on the field.
Equally as important, the very few things that Kirby has shared about JTDs situation have only added to the confusion by the fanbase. Making statements that JTD had been cleared to play (apparently by our medical staff only and not the physician who performed the 2 surgeries) subsequent to the Arky game and was showing signs of improved mobility has only tended to cloud the fanbase perception further as that sure sounds like a QB who should be, on the surface, competing for the starting QB job and/or significant PT.
Unless Rusty has a specific source, he’s firing shots into the dark as he has no better idea as to what’s occurring with the QBs than anyone else who isn’t part of the football program.
Mansell is connected at the highest level in the football program. Played with Kirby (actually was a walk-on)
Even if that’s the case, Kirby isn’t leaking info to Mansell about a QB potentially transferring.
I am not qualified to say what Kirby may or may not be telling the guy. But they ae close – close enough to take family vacay together
I don’t think there was the implication that PT had anything to do with it. Here is what I saw “From what I am hearing lately sounds like he is leaning on getting healthy and moving on. Not done, but that is what I am hearing more and more lately”
If true that really sucks. When he came aboard I thought the plan might be for him to sit and recover this year while Kramer had a go at it and then take the reins next year. I have stayed out of the QB “discussions”, but if JTD is not going to be around next year, I think we are playing the wrong guy.
I know that a coach can’t manage his program worrying about next year, but if we’re not careful here, we might find ourselves in a mess. If, as discussed herein, JTD decides to leave, coupled with the fact that I expect (assuming SB continues as our starting QB for most of the remainder of the year) Mathis and/or Beck to enter the transfer portal, we could go from a very deep QB room to SB and a true freshman as our only scholarship QBs.
Coaches are playing the guy that is earning the start in practice and that is healthy to play; so, are you saying they should not do so and start someone based on what?
Not trying to be a jack hat about this, but the meme that the coaching staff is being stubborn and not playing the best players seems to be counter intuitive to them keeping their jobs.
Now, there could be an issue with practice evaluations in regards to the QB, but since we are not privy to practice, that is hard to say.
See 1man below. If we are “stuck” with SBIV this year, I understand. If JTD leaves it seems to me that he gets an encore year. Are we really signing up to this for 2 years?
TBH, I don’t know. I wish I did. There is no guarantee that SBIV continues to start the next 4 games after the Kentucky game let alone that he earns the start for all 12 games in 2021. My opinion is I would be surprised if SBIV holds off Beck, Brock, and the other QBs on the roster for the next 2 years, but I could be wrong. Fromm was able to do so versus Eason and Fields.
I would say that in college football, if the coaches find a quality starter, that at best, they may get 2 to 3 years of them; so, teams are in a situation where the starting QB is a question mark every couple of years.
I don’t think you’ll find an opinion of who I believe the starting QB should be in any of my posts today. However, a coach of a top 10 program making $5+M annually has to both manage a program to win in the current year and build his program so that he’s set up to win in future years. Kirby has been very coy (and thus confusing) about the QB situation this year, from Newman’s surprise departure to not really knowing whether JTD has, in fact, been cleared to play. And like it or not, Kirby doesn’t have a stellar reputation regarding managing the QB room, whether deserved or not. So, all I did was point out that, based on the rumor that someone else posted regarding JTD potentially leaving, as well as an assumption that 1 or more of the other QBs not getting PT could leave as well, a QB room with 4 players could be cut in half by the start of next season. I think that’s pretty clear in my post if you read what it says instead of what you think it’s saying or inferring.
I was replying to Dawgleg and not your post 1man…
But I do agree that because Kirby is the head coach and is getting paid a lot of money to win, that it ultimately falls on his shoulders when it comes to the team and roster management of the position groups.
My point in response to DawgLeg’s post is that I don’t know of any football coach that starts a player in regards to potential over one who earns the start.
Full transparency – probably too much coffee here, but while we’re on the subject, I am incredibly confused about Mathis. Did he really shine and win the job in the preseason? Or was it a decision where we started what we thought was the best of bad lot and hoped that Arky would be so bad we could win – even with him? If he was considered good enough to start day 1, why have we not seen a single peep since? I saw the first half of the Arky game, but does that mean we have given up on him? I believe us to be limited with our staring QB. With the discussion here today about JTD not being a piece of the puzzle and the young guys appearing to be non-options at this point, I don’t see us getting away from these limitations this year or, quite possibly, next.
Having said all this, I don’t pretend to be on the level of Monken and our staff when it comes to evaluating QBs. As usual, I’m just confused.
OK – I’m done.
I think we heard a lot of things in practice in regards to the QB competition that either was just rumors or assumption. The reality is that the QB race between the players that were healthy enough to play was closer than most of is knew. Mathis probably edged out Bennett for the start versus Arky. Since Bennett took over, he apparently has done enough to keep earning the start.
This, of course, is all an assumption on my part since none of us are privy to practices.
I don’t think the coaches have given up on any of the players, though. If Mathis earns the opportunity to start again, he’ll do so
In an AJC article a few days ago, Kirby said that he chooses the starting QB and provides some scouting info. to Monken for his consideration as his only roles on offense. If that’s the case, I guess I’m a little amazed that a HC who likely doesn’t sit in the QB room during position meetings and likely doesn’t spend all his time in QB position drills during practice is choosing the starting QB. I could see him having input but not the sole decision maker.
With respect to D’wan, and I’m not trying at all to throw the young man under the bus, I’ve seen about 6 quarters of his performance (the spring game in 2019 and 2 quarters against Arky) and if he’s our starting QB, we’re in big trouble. He looked like he had a ‘deer in headlights’ type of focus, which I think impacted the rest of the offense, and appeared to play completely out of control. Perhaps he’s a great practice player that doesn’t translate over into games, but I’ll take SB or Beck over him all day given what I’ve seen in his 2 performances thus far.
Not saying it didn’t happen, but I’ve never heard Kirby say the He chooses the starting QB.
Perhaps you can take it up with your boy Mike Griffith because his article that I’ve linked below specifically states “Smart chooses who will start at quarterback, but beyond that he explained his role working with the offense is more in a scouting capacity.”
https://www.dawgnation.com/football/team-news/kirby-smart-shares-role-in-georgia-offense-looks-to-avoid-boat-race
I see that Mike said it, but I stick with my statement that I’ve never heard Kirby say that.
With all due respect @178, Mike Griffith said that in his article, but I don’t recall every hearing Kirby Smart actually say that in a presser or interview. I noticed Griffith did not provide a quote where Kirby said that.
I could be wrong, but I also don’t remember any other journalist alluding to the fact that Kirby has said outright that he chooses the QB.
He may very well do so, and I don’t doubt Kirby is involved in the QB decision; but the fact is that none of us, fans or media, know the details of how the coaching staff evaluates and chooses players that start and play in a game. We can make assumptions. We can speculate. That’s it.
Why would he even come here then just to leave but hey Newman did the same thing
To compete for the starting QB job (for a team that, at least on paper, should compete for titles every year), which he obviously hasn’t won either due to injury and/or because he can’t beat out another of the QBs on the roster.
Once he is full recovered (full mobility) I find it almost impossible to believe he can’t win the job. Again – simply mo.
Who knows. Maybe he was running from a conference he thought was not going to play. Now they are and he is looking at the competition next year.
Barring another transfer in I don’t see how he can be scared of next year’s competition.
He already got beat out at USC by a freshman didn’t he? Or did that guy play the whole year and come back? I don’t remember anymore…. this QB carousel is faster than an amusement park ride.
JTD won the starting QB job in Fall camp and started the first game last season, which is when he blew out his knee right before half. The kid who filled in had a great year and I don’t recall whether USC was able to get in some or most of its spring practice. I don’t know if JTD thought he couldn’t beat the kid out again once his knee was healed but the PAC deciding that it wasn’t go to play this season likely helped him in deciding whether to return to USC to attempt to win his old job back.
All I know is that we’re not getting the full story and i doubt Rusty is getting the FULL story either. I’m sure there’s a lot going on behind the scenes that he hasn’t heard/seen.

Sweet!
This is very cool
Guess they are doing it this week because there are no premier matchups!
Copied straight from the Masters website:
“Given the circumstances brought about by the pandemic, the delivery of quality content is as important as ever to the storytelling of the Masters Tournament,” said Ridley. “While we will dearly miss our patrons at Augusta National this fall, we are excited to showcase what promises to be a truly memorable Masters in a variety of ways for viewers around the world.”
One such way is the addition of College GameDay, which is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. – Noon before the live CBS broadcast of the third round. The studio will be staged overlooking Ike’s Pond and the 9th green of the Par 3 course.
“When exploring ways to showcase a fall Masters, we were drawn to the concept of hosting College GameDay at Augusta National to introduce the Tournament to a new audience and provide even more anticipation and excitement to the event,” Ridley continued. “We appreciate the collaboration with ESPN, our longtime broadcast partner, for this first-of-its-kind opportunity.”
Yep and if LSU was unbeaten with Bama coming to town do you not agree they would be in Baton Rouge!!!!!!
Looks like it’s going to be strength against strength this weekend. Kentucky’s run game against Georgia’s run defense. I like our chances to cover.
Neither of their QBs are really major threats in the passing game. I fully expect us to stack the box and bring pressure to try to neutralize their running game and try to force them to throw the football.
I agree. I think that Kentucky will stack the box also and Pickens may finally have his breakout game
Unlike Coley, Monken knows how to make a team pay for stacking the box. If they do stack the box at the beginning of the game, they’ll come out of that look after we have a bit of success in the passing game (assuming we take what the D gives us and actually throw the football – see next paragraph below). I watched the entirety of the UK/Mizzou game and even though the Mizzou true frosh QB isn’t known as a passer (he ran triple option offense in HS), Mizzou was successful in both the passing and running games against UK last weekend.
My biggest concern with UK potentially stacking the box pertains to several comments made by both Kirby and players this week regarding our ‘offensive identity’ and improving the running game. I hope that we’re not so focused on trying to be a balanced offense and trying to run the football against an 8 man front that we revert to the Coley offense from last year. I support balance but also believe that an offense has to take what a defense is giving it when calling plays.
I think we need to keep pursuing Lee Hunter. We need another DT even if TID commits to us. Also need to start reaching out to more safeties
Ole Mike Griffith had Kentucky radio guy Matt Jones on his show last night and compared UGA to Gonzaga in terms of being very good but not quite good enough to Win a championship. Mike loves to stir that Pot. But he did have Hutson Mason on there, it was good to see him
It impresses me just how clueless Hutson and Buck seem to be about UGA for having played for the dawgs.
Would u think about Matt Jones ?
Hmm not sure, haven’t listened to him
I don’t listen to em either but last night Mike had em on the show .
Why do u think they are clueless? Just wondering
They just seem out of the loop and make statements about the team that don’t make sense. Like the whole QB situation… idk it’s hard to listen to them. Seems like they don’t do a deep dive into their sources.
Always liked Buck but sometimes he just talks to hear himself talk – or so it seems.

For those of you saying SBIV cannot throw the ball or his balls float and are wobbly. Maybe you should watch this video. Several of these are Dead on the money, placed where they have to be and several are thrown on a rope – a tight rope at that.
Sorry but I think you are watching a different SBIV than what I have seen. Are some of his throws off – yes. Have some of them been tipped – yes – some even batted down. Overall he seems to throw both a good and a catchable ball. I think Kearis Jackson would agree!
Not really an arm issue with SBIV. He’s size limits his ability to see down the field. His touch isn’t great at times, but that might be due to other issues he has seeing down field. For most teams SBIV would be a fine QB.
Naw, there are others on here today that say he cannot throw a good ball! His passes are wobbly and he has to much air under them. I say Nay, nay!
Stetson throws a good ball
I think SB throws a decent ball. What a lot of people aren’t acknowledging is that up to and including the week of the Arky game, he was getting very limited snaps with the 2’s as D’wan was getting virtually all the snaps with the 1’s in preparation for the game. So, he’s still not completely in tune with the WRs as a result of taking the majority of snaps with the 1’s for about a month now.
Also, a couple of people have indicated over the past few weeks that several of his passes didn’t lead the WRs. When throwing over the middle of the field, a QB has to ensure that he tries to place the football where only the WR has a chance to catch it and not a LB or S breaking on the ball. One of the TDs that Burton dropped in one of the earlier games required him to go to ground and it hit him in the chest (I’m not referring to the tipped INT against Bama). If Stetson had tried to hit Burton in stride, the S would have made a play on the ball. Secondarily, a QB generally tries to not get his WRs killed catching the ball over the middle and that’s also taken into consideration when trying to place a pass. While I’m also surprised that SB is our starting QB, he’s doing a decent job running the offense, all things considered.
Fully agree! I was just using the video above that Greg had posted as evidence.
Some fans have been doubting Stetson’s ability since he came in for Mathis in the Arkansas game.
There were people saying Georgia cannot come back and win versus the Hogs during the game.
Then people said if he started version Auburn, Georgia couldn’t win that game.
Then they said the same thing during the first half of the Tennessee game… That the coaches better put someone else in
When he finally had a bad game, those fans said “See! I told you so!”
I don’t get the thought process or psychology of waiting for a player of a team I’m a fan of to fail to prove if I am right or wrong.
Sorry for the rant, but that has really bugged me this season.
Do you honestly think he’s good enough to win a championship? The guy started out the 5th string QB for a reason. He’s a great story but he’s not the answer no matter how much it bugs you sir.
How many times have you asked me that question @170, and I have given you the same answer? I have no idea and neither do you if Georgia can win a Nat’l Title with Bennett. It is just your opinion, as well as a number of others, that Georgia cannot, and that is fine. That doesn’t bug me.
What bugs me are fans moving the goal post since he took over in the Arky game… the fact that there are those that have been waiting for Bennett to mess up and fail to say “See. I told you so…” Not saying you are one of those fans, but to me, that is an odd way to go through a season with that mentality.
Point blank is Bennett shouldn’t be starting regardless of the situation. Glad he helped win a couple games but if he’s the best you have on the team what does that say of Kirby and his staff recruiting of the position? Why is it that 2 other guys that were in the program went of an had success at other programs? I love the Dawgs and always will but I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around how a 5th string former walk on is your QB right now.
You are assuming that 2019 Justin Fields at Ohio State was as good as 2018 Justin Fields. I’m not saying Fields’ athletic ability and talent changed, but his maturity and football knowledge certainly did. He even said he was more mature and approaching the game differently after transferring from Georgia to Ohio State in a couple of interviews, which you can find if you Google. I would but don’t have the time right now.
And regardless of how talented Fields or Eason are, that doesn’t mean Fromm didn’t beat them in practice and earn the starts he did. Same goes for Bennett.
I know people have a hard time believing that that is not possible for a less talented, less athletic player to beat out the more talented one, but it happens all the time. Some guys are just better football players in certain systems.
In that regard. That could be the issue.
Perhaps the issue with how the quarterbacks are evaluated in practice to determine who starts? Or the offensive system Kirby is wanting his offensive coordinators to run.
Evaluation in practice can be misleading for certain guys. Kirby complained several times that Mecole Hardman and a few other guys didn’t perform well in practice but played better in games. Just like we were told from multiple sources that Fields when he was here looked awesome in practice and we heard that about how well Mathis looked this offseason but the results on the field didn’t show. Although I truly don’t think Mathis was given a true chance and he also was under constant pressure from the right side.
And that is the big issue IMO. We simply really don’t know because practices are closed. A lot of what people are basing their opinions on outside of gameplay is pure assumption and speculation.
Was Fields really looking awesome in practice or did he just make some great plays here and there? And I don’t doubt that Fields had some “Wow! Did you see that!” moments given his talent and athletic ability. Same goes for Mathis.
My point is what information we do get is from 15 minutes or less of warmups and drills when Kirby allowed the media to cover practices, what Kirby and players say in their press conferences and interviews, and anything outside of that is from 3rd party sources with no way to confirm if that info is true or not. So it ends up a lot of assumption and speculation based on that little bit of info.
I agree with Bob’s assessment below; however, if the coaches think he provides us the best chance to win consistently and he’s not capable of winning a championship, then I don’t understand any logic in thinking that the other QBs on our team improve those chances. That said, I’d be willing to bet that many Bama fans said the same thing about Matt Jones last year when Tua got injured and he’s tearing it up this year after having time to settle into the starting QB role and get the majority of reps at practice.

Naw, I hope it is. But I still think it will be clem&son vs bama for the Natty
You think it will be anybody BUT Georgia ########
Just being honest. I wish I could say it was UGA but just don’t see it
I don’t think Alabama was good enough before the injury, but it certainly doesn’t help. The only reason Alabama is better than UGA at the moment is QB play.
Certainly hurts their chances getting through the SECCG let alone a Natty. Waddle is not someone you pull off the shelf and replace.
I think we beat bama if we see them again in the benz.
When they had Waddle and Smith, a defense could not double cover both. Now that Waddle is gone, we can double Smith and force one of their less explosive WRs to step up and be the primary WR (and also cheat one of the S up in the box a bit to help stop Harris running). While they’re still a solid team with a lot of highly rated recruits, they’re definitely more beatable without Waddle on the roster.
Good Morning fellow dawgs!!!
Good Morning, AD!

This is what has been missing form out O this year. Get a few of these and things will really start to roll. I have a good feeling going forward!
Well we don’t have a swift anymore
We don’t have a lot of people anymore. Still have plenty of talent along the line and in the backfield. They just need to bust one or two and things will start moving along.
We will see what happens. But teams gonna crowd that line with Bennett in there, believe that
We don’t have 4 guys from that OL either but we’ll still beat them.
Who Kentucky? Anyways I’m talking about as far breaking out long runs which hadn’t happened yet
The reason Swift made that long run was because he had a HUGE hole to run through. I’m not saying Swift wasn’t special but that was a massive hole.
Yeah but swift is more elusive than our backs now. Our ol wasn’t that good last year, the long runs started to delcline some last year
While RBs who make a long run, say those plays over 20 yards, those 40-80 yard highlight reel runs, does have to make at least one or two guys miss as well as enough speed to not get tackled from behind, @170 is right. It usually starts with the o-line.
If you look at a lot of those big run plays, most of the time, the back isn’t touched till they are 5-10 yards past the LOS. And that is because the oline opened up a big ole hole
Need homerun running backs.. we have move the chains backs..
Whether a team scores on a 60-yard run off tackle or 60 yards on 12 plays, the result is still a TD. While the 60-yard off tackle play will be exciting and make the highlight reel, I would argue the 12-play, 60 yard drive is more demoralizing to the opponent and has a greater impact on the following drive.

Would Love to see 3 or 4 of these on Saturday.
You will either see a late thrown duck ball like that or hopefully a tightly wound spiral from another QB.
WHY???? You do realize he was hit as he threw the ball but still managed to get it to his receiver.
Seems like you are always for the backup QB… NEVER the starting QB!
Not even taking that throw Kearis 1st TD pass that ball was so wobbly he had to catch it with his body. Brian Finneran a former professional WR for the Falcons even said his balls were terrible and that why guys are dropping a lot of ball. When your trying to catch the ball with your hands you don’t want it to come in wobbly because now you have to concentrate on the ball and defender at the same time.
I was in favor of Eason and Fields during Fromm’s time and I was in favor of Mathis who they didn’t give a proper shot to either.
A lot of Ducks thrown by Bennett
Guess I will have to go back and look.
