There is not a hotter commodity on the 2022 college football prospect market than Jaren Kanak. Kanak is a 6’2″ 210-pound Athlete from Hays, Kansas. Kanak stars for Hays High School on both sides of the ball and is simply a freak athlete. Guys that are 210 pounds aren’t often laser timed in the 100m in the 10.3 range! Kanak had mostly offers from the midwest, including a group of 5 school and Nebraska, before being offered by Vanderbilt on March 31st. Another big offer came from Penn State on May 12th. Since then, it has been an avalanche of interests and offers, with Wisconsin, Virginia, Arizona, Kentucky, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Colorado, USC, Florida, Texas A&M, Baylor, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Georgia having offered in the last 10 days.
To say the least, a whirlwind is obvious why Kanak has emerged as one of the fastest rising stars in his class. The Kansan is extremely fluid and explosive on the football field. Kanak is an instinctive player that can do everything that is asked of him on the football field with relative ease, and he is asked to do a lot! In my opinion, Kanak would translate well as a star/nickel player early in his career, with the potential to grow into playing linebacker. Physicality is certainly not lacking in Kanak’s game as he is more than willing to block offensive and shed blocks, and tackle defensively. With the speed and the ball skills that the 4-Star Athlete possesses, it does not seem like playing man coverage or some matchup zone coverage would be too daunting of a task.
It will be highly intriguing to see where Kanak actually visits this summer. A couple of weeks ago, Kanak had official visits scheduled to Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, and Washington State. However, the magnitude of recent offers will certainly make Kanak think about how he plans out his fall and summer. A trip to Athens would show that Coach Glenn Schumann’s offer was made with some mutual interest in play, and this late in a recruiting cycle, that’s always of consequence and to be taken notice of.
