DDT: New B.I.P.’s Post – State Championship Weekend

The GHSA football state championship games were pushed back later than normal this year due to COVID. The timing puts the games finishing today, just before the new year. Also, it provides a good opportunity for recruits to make some decisions and either narrow down decisions or make the ultimate decisions. Today we list some recruits that Georgia faithful in particular should be on the lookout for when it comes to top groups and commitments being made soon.

  1. MALAKI STARKS – 2022 5-STAR – ATHLETE – JEFFERSON, GA

The tremendous athlete from northeast Georgia, just outside of Athens, and his fellow Jefferson Dragons came up short in their effort to win the state championship. With the season now over, I would not be shocked to see Malaki Starks make his decision between Georgia, Alabama, and Clemson relatively soon. The buzz around Starks really started picking up in early to mid November. Georgia seems to be well positioned in this recruitment. Not only is Starks a top priority, but they’ve made him feel like it. Starks, like Nyland Green in 2021, is a freak athlete that is so close to home it would be an absolute gut punch to the class not to sign. Family is very important to Starks, he has a terrific relationship with his Mother in particular, and in several interviews, Starks has described Georgia as family. My official B.I.P. (Bulldawg Illustrated Projection) is Starks to the Dawgs.

2. MICHAEL DAUGHERTY – 2023 4-STAR DB – GRAYSON – LOGANVILLE, GA

Our 2nd player on commit watch is playing today in the 7A state championship game for the Grayson Rams. Michael Daugherty is a highly coveted defensive back in the class of 2023. Charlton Warren and company have been on Daugherty since he was an 8th grader. When you start at Grayson, one of the most talented programs in the entire country, as a freshman and a sophomore, you’re a pretty sporty player and prospect. Daugherty is very instinctive, a sure tackle, and is one of the more mature and purpose driven high school athletes I’ve come in contact with. I look for either a top group or a commitment from him on the 31st or the 1st. B.I.P. to the Dawgs on this recruitment for me as well.

3. CHRISTEN MILLER – 2022 4-STAR DT – CEDAR GROVE – ELLENWOOD, GA

Miller has long been flirting with the Georgia Bulldogs in my opinion. I truly think the only thing stopping Miller from having already committed to Georgia is the recruiting restrictions on visits put in place because of COVID. Also, even though they fell short of the championship game this season, Cedar Grove is a perennial state title contender and no doubt Miller and his teammates were once again focused on winning a ring. With the season and the holidays in the rear view, I’d be shocked if Miller doesn’t official narrow down his recruitment very soon. At 6’5″ 285 Miller certainly looks the part. Georgia wants him badly, like Tyre West bad, and the relationship between Miller and Tray Scott is as strong as any. Ohio State is trying to make a late run here and LSU and Florida are also being considered, but I’m putting a B.I.P. in right now for Miller to the Dawgs, maybe as soon as the spring.
