NIL Disclosure Requirements – How Much Do Schools Want To Know?
Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) legislation that will make it possible for student-athletes to directly profit from their popularity has been passed by a growing number of States, including Georgia. Congress is also involved, but it has yet to vote on NIL legislation.
The most common fear that I’ve heard about NIL is that business-owning boosters will pay players for ads and the promise of those payment will be used as a recruiting tool by rival schools. A bidding war amongst the bagmen!
The issue boils down to reporting. That is, will athletes be required to submit all NIL contract for their school’s oversight. Sportico published a long article covering the bases on the subject:

The first week without dead period recruiting restrictions went well in Athens as prospects and committed athletes toured the facilities, including the new facilities in the Butts-Mehre Complex. The action will continue today and next week.
