Over the weekend, 4-Star defensive tackle Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins (also referred to as TID) intimated that his high profile recruitment will soon draw to an end. The 6’5″ 300 pound Gaffney, South Carolina native has been recruited hard by Georgia defensive line coach Tray Scott, and the attention is well warranted.

In fact, at times TID has been used on offense for Gaffney High School and has found the endzone after rumbling down the field after a receptions and on carries. The fact that Ingram-Dawkins has gained 40 some odd pounds in the last year and still maintains this level of athleticism is a testament to the type of player he can be in the middle of a defense.
Even though North Carolina and Tennessee have pushed very hard for Ingram-Dawkins, all indications are right now that this is a battle between Georgia and South Carolina. Tracy Rocker, a name Georgia faithful are familiar with, has made Ingram-Dawkins a top priority for the Gamecocks. There is pressure to Rocker, Muschamp, and company to keep the talented defensive tackle at home. Also, Tray Scott and Georgia have recently added Marlin Dean back to the fold and are pursuing Maason Smith and Korey Foreman ardently, with growing moment I might add.
As of now it would seem like South Carolina would be the favorites, but TID did have an interesting exchange on Twitter with Elijah Jeudy yesterday. When Jeudy took to social media make the public aware an announcement on his recruitment was upcoming, one that everyone knew was a decommitment from Georgia, Ingram-Dawkins seemed to be dreading the outcome.

Georgia certainly needs to add another interior defensive lineman or two with Jordan Davis likely to enter the NFL Draft after the 2020 season and Malik Herring, Devonte Wyatt, and Julian Rochester all graduating. As mentioned before, Tray Scott has done a great job building a relationship with TID and it does seem to be Dawgs and Gamecocks right now, but if Ingram-Dawkins is to end up in Athens, there still work left to do.
