Amidst some troubles off the field, head coach Kirby Smart addressed some improvement for the Bulldogs, even though he did not believe that Tuesday’s practice was as successful as Saturday’s. 

“I thought today was not our best day…It was the first day we were dragging a little bit,” Smart said. 

Tuesday marked the seventh spring practice for the Bulldogs. Smart said that they did not connect on some things offensively and mentioned that some freshmen seemed to be “hitting a wall.”

However, he did believe that the defensive backs performed well in practice, and that they have improved most since last year. Smart is not measuring improvement from the start of spring practice, rather from last year to now. 

With the addition of Tyrique Stevenson, Lewis Cine and DJ Daniel, Smart said that they have some experience finally. He added that JR Reed deciding to stay at Georgia “really put us over the top.” 

“I’m not saying that we are playing unbelievable. What I’m saying is we got guys that know what to do now,” Smart said. 

As for the offensive side of the ball, Georgia is lacking in depth at receiver and tight end, and Smart said it is hard to evaluate those positions as of now.
