Diamond Dawgs Win Eighth Straight, Defeat Presbyterian College 4-3

The Georgia Bulldogs baseball team defeated Presbyterian College 4-3 in the lone game of the series.

In the top of the first inning, PC center fielder Joel Dragoo hit a two-run homer to left after a walk by shortstop Brody Fahr, making the score 2-0.

 

 

 

 

In the bottom of the first, Georgia answered right back with a solo home run to left from Charlie Condon and a bases loaded walk from Kolby Branch, tying the game at 2-2.

In the top of the third, left fielder Noah Lebron threatened to take the lead right back with a one-out double, but PC was not able to bring him home.

In the top of the fifth inning, PC put another runner in scoring position after a steal from third baseman Aaron Hobson following a walk with one out. However, Bulldogs starting pitcher Jarvis Evans was able to once again get out of a jam, striking the next two batters out.

 

 

 

 

In the bottom of the fifth, Slate Alford lined a double down the left field line to lead off the frame for the Bulldogs. With one out, Logan Jordan was able to advance Alford to third from a groundout, but Dylan Goldstein was unable to drive him in after striking out looking.

In the bottom of the sixth, Paul Toetz sliced a line drive triple to the right-center gap to lead off the inning for Georgia. With one out, Branch broke the tie with an RBI single to make the score 3-2 in favor of the Dawgs.

In the bottom of the seventh, Condon lead the inning off with a double off the center field wall. A sacrifice fly from Jordan advanced Condon to third, but neither Goldstein or Toetz were able to bring him home.

In the top of the eighth inning, Fahr belted a home run over the scoreboard in right, tying the game back up at three.

In the bottom of the eighth, Fernando Gonzalez hit a single to left with two outs. Josh Stinson pinch ran for Gonzalez and was able to steal second. Dillon Carter followed the steal with a walk, and both runners advanced to second and third after a wild pitch from Tanner Smith. Smith loaded the bases after walking Alford, and allowed a run to score after walking Condon to give Georgia the lead 4-3.

Brian Zeldin was able to nail down the save for the Bulldogs in the ninth with two strikeouts, giving the team its eighth straight win.

Pitcher Zach Harris got the win for the Bulldogs, going 0.2 IP with a strikeout in the eighth inning.

Charlie Condon continued his success at the plate, going 2-4 with a home run and two RBIs. The Bulldogs outfielder has had multiple hits in every game this season.

The Diamond Dawgs continue action this Wednesday at home against Michigan State. First pitch is scheduled for 6 pm.
