Herschel Walker’s final game between the hedges was a 38-18 Bulldogs victory over Tech on November 27, 1982, highlighted by a 59-yard touchdown run that gave Georgia a 7-0 lead.

Georgia’s baseball program secured memorable NCAA Tournament victories over the Yellow Jackets in the 2001 and 2008 Regional Championships and 2004 Super Regional.

In Georgia’s 30-16 victory at Tech in 1987, Rodney Hampton ran for a 30-yard touchdown to put the Bulldogs up by 14 and David Dukes made an exceptional punt off an errant snap.

One of the most famous announcers in the south was the longtime voice of the Yellow Jackets Al Ciraldo, who called Tech games for 38 seasons, famously saying “toe meets leather.”

The Yellow Jackets men’s basketball team has been to two Final Fours, going first under Bobby Cremins’ watch in 1990 and returning in 2004 with Paul Hewitt as head coach.

One of the Yellow Jackets’ most notable alumni is baseball standout Jason Varitek, who was a three-time Major League all-star and Gold Glove Award-winning catcher for the Boston Red Sox.
