Safety Dominick Sanders is one of the Bulldogs veteran players on defense and should be looked at as one of the defensive leaders for the team. Sanders recalls the thoughts and emotions he had when taking on his first start and how he has adjusted since then.
 
 

Sanders has been a consistent starter for the Bulldogs since his freshman year and remembers what it was like to receive his first start. He remembers it being against the Clemson Tigers and how he was almost awestruck by everything happening around happen.
 

It was hard for me my first start, Crowd, couldn’t stop looking up, it was a lot of things like that.

 
 
Sanders also recalls what it was like to first hear that he was going to start, and he comments on how that is a moment that will stick with him forever. He may have been overwhelmed at first by the starting role, but it did not take Sanders long to gain more comfort as a starter.
 

That moment will stick with me forever, that’s a good memory. He told me I was gonna start, and like the first two plays of that Clemson game, man they threw two bombs down on the field. It got my nerves up; I wasn’t scared or nothing like that. I kinda knew ‘I’m the only freshman out here, they trying to pick at me.’

 
 
Sanders tries to help relate this experience to some of the younger players on the team in hopes of helping them feel more prepared no game day and to feel less overwhelmed. Sanders stresses with the younger players that going into the game just to play like you normally do because age doesn’t matter. He also stresses to the younger guys to stay focused and to be aggressive, and they will be just fine.
 
 
Sanders seems to be locked into the Bulldogs season opener and looks to be a leader in the secondary. If Sanders continues to play as well as he did last season, then the Bulldogs secondary should be one of the strongest in the country.
