Reggie Carter was asked recently about the progress of early enrollee Monte Rice. Carter’s first few words were music to the ears of Georgia fans, “He’s a pit bull out there.”
 
 
Rice, rated as a 3-star linebacker in high school (Madison, AL), is a player who to some degree fell through the crack with the recruiting services. In spite of his relatively low ranking, he was offered by many SEC programs and originally committed to LSU. UGA flipped him in on January 2nd and he enrolled on the 5th.
 
 
When asked about Rice’s progress, veteran linebacker Reggie Carter said (1:02 mark of the video below):
 
 
“Aw man, he’s a pit bull, he goes – he goes. He’s a great kid. I thought he was going to struggle picking it up like everybody that freshman year, but, I mean, he’s done way better than I thought he would do. He’s another one after practice watching film and asking a lot of questions in the meetings.”
 
 
Carter noted that Rice was doing well even though he is now facing a completely different set of offensive linemen:
 
 
“Everybody’s good out there. It’s not like in high school…he’s going against people Sam Madden, Solomon McKenzie and Isaiah (Wynn).”
 
 
When asked if Rice reminded him of anyone, Carter replied:
 
 
“He’s a big kid, kinda reminds me of ‘Marlo (former UGA LB Amarlo Herrera). He gets after it, he runs to the ball, he does everything the coaches asked him to do.”
