The No. 2 Georgia equestrian team defeated No. 10 Kansas State Friday morning at the University of Georgia Equestrian Complex in Bishop, Ga. with a final score of 15-4.  With the win, Georgia moves to 8-2 on the season. Kansas State drops to 3-5.
 
 
Highlighting the meet was Bailey Anderson (Horsemanship), Addy Cord (Equitation Over Fences), and Meg O’Mara (Equitation on the Flat) who won MOP honors for Georgia.
 
 
“We were very excited to be out here competing again against Kansas State today,” Georgia head coach Meghan Boenig said. “ We had great competition, lots of strong rides, and several high scores. There are a couple of things we need to continue to approve on but being at home, and finishing out strong with a great win feels good.”
 
 
Georgia jumped to an early 4-0 lead over Kansas State in Equitation Over Fences.  Liza Finsness rode to a score of 81 over Taylor Schmidt’s 76 for Georgia’s first point of the day. O’Mara rode to a tie against Henley Adkins with a score 79, before Maddie Newman defeated Christina Martinelli 82-73. Leylan Gleeson defeated KSU’s Halle Kutsche 86-69 before Cord closed out the event with an MOP earning 87-0 defeat of Molly Dunn.
 
 
In Horsemanship, Georgia extended their lead outscoring Kansas State 4-1.  The first four points went to Georgia, starting with Rachel Kolb who outscored Alyssa Lombardi 73.5-70.5, followed by Heather Schmidt edging Ashley Anderson 70.5-69.5.  Madison Anger rode to 73.5 over Danielle Kemper’s 70 before Anderson defeated Paige Kemper 74.5-70, which won her MOP honors. Kansas State won the final point of the event with Sydney Anson outscoring Graysen Stroud 70.5-69.5.
 
 
Georgia led Kansas State 8-1 with two events left.
 
 
In Equitation on the Flat, Georgia outscored Kansas State 4-1. Martinelli won the first point for Kansas State over Alex Maracic with a score of 78-77. O’Mara earned the first of Georgia’s four points in the event and MOP honors with a score of 84 over Gretchen Koenen’s 69. Finsness edged Kansas State’s Schmidt 73-71 before Cord defeated Dunn 81-70. Newman won the final Hunt Seat point for Georgia 80-73 over Adkins. Georgia led Kansas State 12-2 heading into the final event.
 
 
Competition concluded with Reining, Georgia outscored Kansas State 3-1. Lauren Garmon rode to a 69, defeating Brynn Critcher who scored a 66.5 before Lindsey Cheek defeated her opponent 67.5-66.5.  Kansas State won the next point with Kara Guy defeating Claudia Spreng 64.5- 62. Georgia won another point with Kyndall Harper outscoring Danielle Kemper 69-67 before KSU’s Kali Retzler edged Graysen Stroud for the final point of the day.
 
 
Georgia will host a neutral-site meet with Kansas State and Fresno State on Friday afternoon.
 
 
Georgia will resume competition Saturday morning as they take on Fresno State at 10 a.m. at the UGA Equestrian Complex in Bishop, Ga. Georgia will honor their 14 seniors immediately following competition.
