The Bulldogs’ equestrian team saddle up and ride west to Auburn, AL to take on the third-ranked Tigers today at 2:00 p.m. ET at Auburn University’s Horse Center.
Georgia is coming off back-to-back wins at home and is currently ranked 7th.
“We’re very excited to be coming off a great weekend of competition,” head coach Meghan Boenig said. “There is no better prep for postseason than to be continuously competing. Auburn is a great rival and will be a great test for us. We are very excited and ready to go.”
LAST TIME OUT
Georgia (6-4, 2-2) bounced back from a loss at Baylor with two wins at home against South Carolina and Delaware State.
The Bulldogs first welcomed the Gamecocks to Bishop on Friday, Feb. 3 and rode to a 14-5 victory. Georgia defeated South Carolina in all events with three Bulldogs riding to season-high scores, including Maddy Darst (Equitation Over Fences), Liza Finsness (Equitation on the Flat and Equitation Over Fences), and Meg O’Mara (Equitation on the Flat). Darst and Finsness earned MOP honors for their rides.
Georgia’s Hunt Seat squad shutout Delaware State on the way to an 18-2 victory over the Hornets on Saturday, Feb. 4. Georgia riders earned all four MOP honors with Meg O’Mara (Equitation on the Flat), Maddy Darst (Equitation Over Fences), Graysen Stroud (Horsemanship), and Claudia Spreng (Reining) being recognized for their rides.
SCOUTING AUBURN
After opening its spring schedule with a scrimmage against Alabama, Auburn (4-2, 2-1) returns to action this weekend with a 4-2 overall record and a 2-1 mark in the SEC.
The Tigers’ hunt seat squad is led by Ashley Foster who has earned ten total points this season, four in Equitation on the Flat, and six in Equitation Over Fences.
Kara Kaufmann leads the Horsemanship squad with five points won, while Alexa Rivard has four wins for the Reining squad.
