Fans will have the opportunity to get a sneak peek of the No. 2-ranked Georgia equestrian team when it kicks off its 2017-18 season with the annual Red and Black Scrimmage Friday, September 22 at the UGA Equestrian Complex in Bishop, Ga. The scrimmage begins at 4:00 p.m. and admission is free.

The 2017 SEC Championship team will also be honored with a ring ceremony at the conclusion of the competition.

“We’re so excited for the Red and Black Scrimmage,” head coach Meghan Boenig said. “This is a chance to highlight some incredible new riders and talent, making Georgia strong. It’s also an opportunity to get out there and compete in order to prepare for the upcoming season.”

The Georgia equestrian team looks to continue its legacy of being one of the best programs in the country in the 2017-18 campaign. The Bulldogs finished last year with a 9-4 record during the regular season, before the team was crowned SEC Champions, NCEA Reserve National Champions, and hit 150 wins in program history. This year’s roster includes several All-American and All-SEC selections, as well as a freshman class with impressive resumes, adding depth to the Georgia lineup.

The first 100 fans in attendance at Friday’s scrimmage will receive a free t-shirt and students will receive 500 bonus “Commit To The G” student rewards points.

The 2017-18 season will officially begin on the road as Georgia travels to Fresno State. The two Bulldog teams will square off on Friday, September 29.
