ATHENS, Ga. — No. 1 Georgia equestrian travels to College Station to face conference- foe No. 3 Texas A&M for the regular season finale on Saturday, March 10 at 12 p.m. ET.

Earlier this season, the Aggies came to Georgia and dropped a 12-4 contest as the then-No. 2 Bulldogs knocked off the top-ranked team in the country at the time. Georgia allowed the Aggies only one point in each event, and two Bulldogs earned MOP honors. 

Georgia has held the top spot in the NCEA team rankings for 11 weeks of the season, since the October 17, 2017 announcement by the NCEA selection committee.  Georgia’s Western squads, Horsemanship and Reining, hold the No. 1 spot in respective event rankings, while Equitation on the Flat is ranked third and Equitation Over Fences checks in at No. 4.

Texas A&M holds a 9-4 record as the No. 3 team in the country behind Georgia and Auburn.  The Aggie Equitation on the Flat, Equitation Over Fences, and Horsemanship squads all sit at No. 2 in respective event rankings.  Texas A&M is ranked fourth in Reining.

Saturday’s meet will determine the seeding for the SEC Championship, which will be hosted by South Carolina on March 30-31.  If Georgia wins against Texas A&M this weekend the Bulldogs will be the No. 1 seed for the SEC Championship, Auburn will be No. 2 and Texas A&M will be No. 3.  If Georgia suffers a loss, Auburn will be No. 1 and then it will depend on the point spread between Georgia and Texas A&M for the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds. South Carolina will be No. 4.
