Georgia equestrian senior Meg O’Mara earned two more awards to conclude her collegiate career after being named the NCEA’s Rider of the Year in Equitation on the Flat and Equitation Over Fences.

 
O’Mara, who was also named SEC Rider of the Year for both Hunt Seat events, posted a 16-2 Equitation on the Flat record and a 15-3 Equitation Over Fences record during the 2016-17 campaign, putting her in the second spot for most wins in program history in each event.
 
 
“It’s amazing,” head coach Meghan Boenig said. “She’s a really great young lady, certainly our most decorated Bulldog, and to finish out that career with the recognition in not one, but both events, speaks to her decorated history as an athlete. She’s so deserving, and she’s such a wonderful person.”
 
 
The Rumson, New Jersey native went on a 12-meet win streak from Oct. 9 to Feb. 25 in Equitation on the Flat and earned six MOP honors. She earned an additional six MOP honors in Equitation Over Fences.
 
 
A two-year captain, O’Mara helped lead the team to a Reserve National Championship, by going 2-1 in Flat and Fences while earning NCEA All-Championship Team honors in Equitation on the Flat.
 
 
Texas A&M’s Avery Ellis earned NCEA Horsemanship Rider of the Year honors, while Hannah Mitchell of Oklahoma State was named NCEA Reining Rider of the Year.
