Iconic former Bulldogs defensive coordinator and Georgia Southern head coach Erk Russell is the last four-sport letterman for Auburn – football, baseball, basketball and tennis.
When Georgia upset Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium in 1986, the Bulldogs sealed the victory on a game-saving interception by standout linebacker Steve Boswell.
Only two of Georgia’s 13 SEC championship teams suffered losses to Auburn – the Bulldogs Rose Bowl championship teams of 1942 and 2017, coached by Butts and Kirby Smart.

Former Auburn football coach Pat Dye was an All-American lineman at Georgia, and famously blocked a Tech extra point in a 7-6 win in 1960 – Wally Butts final game as the Bulldogs head coach.
