Jeff Dantzler’s five keys for a Dawg’s victory in Saturday’s Georgia-Auburn game, the final homestand in Sanford Stadium for the 2017 college football season for the boys in red and black.

 

1. BOTTLE UP BENNY:
 
One of the elite running backs in the Southeastern Conference, Benny Snell Jr. is a workhorse, a chain-mover, and big play threat. He’s got the genes. His grandfather’s cousin Matt scored the Jets lone touchdown in their famed 16-7 Super Bowl III victory over the Jets. Benny was a huge recruiting win for Mark Stoops, and if the Bulldogs are going to win Saturday, containing him is a must. The Georgia run defense has been strong throughout the season, and this is a big test Saturday.
 
 
2. CRISP OFFENSE:
 
The last time the Bulldogs played between the hedges two weeks ago, a fumble inside the five and a handful of penalties hampered Georgia in what turned out to be an impressive 24-10 win. Like South Carolina that Saturday, this Kentucky team is an underdog, but absolutely talented and tough enough to win between the hedges. Georgia’s offense must avoid the self-inflicted wounds that would open the door for a potential Wildcats upset while taking control of the game.
 
 
3. KICKING GAME CONQUEST:
 
One of the most improved units in the country this year has been Georgia’s special teams. They will need to shine again in all phases Saturday. From the snap to protection, to the kicks/punts, the coverage units, the returns, Georgia put in all the work in the offseason and it has shown. It’s late in the season, there are injuries, bumps and bruises and fatigue setting in for many teams. The kicking game remains an element where Georgia should be able to cash in, with a bit more depth, and have an advantage over the Wildcats.
 
 
4. BRING IT:
 
Even though it is the final regular season Southeastern Conference contest, the game, like South Carolina between Florida and Auburn, this hits the trap category – between the Tigers and Tech. Georgia’s players have brought the emotion and energy every Saturday, and this week must be no exception. Shutting out the outside noise, and capitalizing on what’s at stake comes down to production every Saturday – the root of what happens every day in practice.
 
 
5. SANFORD FIRE:
 
This is a chance for Georgia to accomplish a major goal of this season. If Georgia can take care of a very good Kentucky team, the Bulldogs would put the finishing touches on a perfect 6-0 campaign at Sanford Stadium. This Georgia team has done a tremendous job feeding off the energy of the Bulldog faithful, between the hedges and away from home. With what this team has accomplished this season, Sanford Stadium should be rocking, and the Bulldogs feeding off the energy against the upset-minded Wildcats.
