I was back on the offensive practice field today. That reminds me to point out that UGA practices on two separate full-size fields while going through individual unit drills. Of course, that makes it extremely hard to cover the entire practice during a typical 10 minute observation period, and it is impossible if one spends half of the allotted time with one’s eye in a camera lens. That restriction is why I do not try to cover both offense and defense in the same day.
The offense line saw some lineup changes Tuesday. Ben Cleveland was rotating with the first group again, but the bigger news was Jamaree Salyer going with the ones at right tackle, beside Cleveland at guard. As a reminder, nothing in these changes should be considered permanent. It is far more likely that offensive line coach Sam Pittman is simple experimenting with his depth. I expect the rotations to continue into fall camp before anything approaching a starting five can be determined.
A reporter who watched the defense told me that Walter Grant was back with his outside linebacker group. This may mean that his days as a running back are over.

It is going to be fun to see 11-on-11 for the first time Saturday at G-Day.
