Georgia is pulling in one of the top recruiting classes yet again. The 2019 class is ahead of schedule to potentially repeat or surpass the 2017 and 2018 classes. To make it as a Bulldog, prospects must at least be one of three things. Players are typically big, fast or physical. A majority of NewBreed19’s commitments are in all three of these categories. Below each commit gets placed in one of the three based on their skills.
BIG
Jadon Haselwood (5* WR) is the No. 1 wide receiver in the country and the No. 1 prospect in Georgia. He’s a big-bodied, strong receiver that uses his size to his advantage. Granted he’s fast and physical too but his 6-2.5, 196-pound build is just what Georgia needs.
Trezman Marshall (4* ATH) may only be 6-1 but when he hits someone with all 236 pounds, guys feel him. Marshall has played running back, linebacker, kicker, and a little quarterback during his high school career. His size allows him to be a unique player and a good one at that.
Xavier Truss (4* OT) is another 6-7.5, 350-pound offensive lineman. He’s a big human being that takes his opponents to the ground almost every play.
Bill Norton (4* SDE) is another one that gets put in the big category for his sheer 6-6, 275-pound size alone. He’s fast and physical too, but he’s one big football player.
Ryland Goede (4* TE) is the latest addition to an already tall tight end group. He’s 6-7, 235-pound, which allows him to be a big target for quarterbacks, not to mention a big downfield blocker.
Warren McClendon (4* OT) is a versatile offensive tackle that stands at 6-4, 318-pound. He plays tackle right now, but he could move to the interior if he maintains his size.
Tramel Walthour (3* DT) is a defensive tackle who initially committed to Georgia in 2018 class. He adds depth to Georgia’s interior defensive line and can plug some holes as he’s 6-4, 277-pound.
Zion Logue (3* DT) is a 6-6, 287-pound defensive lineman. With his size alone he fits in the big category. He’s a project, but you cannot teach size.
FAST
Travon Walker (5* DT) is a special kind of player. At 6-5, 272-pound, he is fast and one of the most physical players on the field. However, for a defensive tackle, a 4.4, 40-yard dash is pretty dang quick.
Dominick Blaylock (5* WR) could be Georgia’s next great wideout. He’s 6-0.5, 187-pound, and easily runs a 4.4 forty-yard dash.
Makiya Tongue (4* ATH) is a 6-2, 210-pound athlete that can play on both sides of the ball. However his ability to outrun defensive backs at that size, he had to be included in this group.
John Rhys Plumlee (4* ATH) is another athlete that has quick feet. He runs a 4.3, 40-yard dash as a guy who primarily plays quarterback. At 6-1, 185-pound, that’s pretty quick.
J.D. Bertrand (4* OLB) stands at 6-1, 215-pound, but has incredibly fast closing speed. He can cover some serious ground horizontally.
PHYSICAL
Nolan Smith is by far one of the most talented football players in recent years. He will run just about anyone down despite being 6-3, 232-pound. However, it’s his physicality that makes him special.
John Emery Jr. is Georgia’s latest additions to RBU. The 5-11, 206-pound running back makes more than one person tackle him each time he carries the rock.
Rian Davis is one of the most physical commitments in the 2019 class. He’s 6-1.5, 240-pound and can tackle the agilest of players. Davis doesn’t give up and will physically outwork an opponent.
Jalen Perry is a 6-1, 188-pound defensive back that deserves to be recognized as a physical player. He isn’t afraid to take balls away from wideouts and be that aggressive corner coaches’ love.
Jermaine Johnson is one of the best players to transfer out of junior college in the last five or so years. He’s 6-6, 250-pound but runs like he’s a running back. Johnson not only will run a player down but will pile drive him into the ground.
Tymon Mitchell is an under the radar type player. The defensive tackle is 6-3, 309-pound. His strength allows him to overpower opponents and take them down easily.
