Georgia is looking to sign a pair of wideouts in the 2021 cycle and on Monday one of their top targets committed to the program. Four-star prospect Adonai Mitchell flipped from Ole to UGA and chose Athens as his home for the next couple of years.
The Cane Ridge High School product also had offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor and Texas as well.
Former Bulldogs standout Terrence Edwards, UGA’s all-time leading receiver, took to Twitter earlier this week to give Mitchell his stamp of approval.
“Very impressed with Adonai Mitchell,” Edwards said, via his personal Twitter account. “After watching his film. Adonai will be a great addition to UGA’s WRs room. 6’3 190 Wr who can stretch the field.”
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound wideout has a great fame and impressive speed. His ability to burst off of the line of scrimmage, and also find separation from defenders was something that grabbed eyes during his junior season.
“I like him a lot,” Edwards said. “Big tall kid with great body control. I think he’s very underrated with a huge upside.”
In 2019, Mitchell hauled in 49 passes for 795 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior with Cane Ridge. Mitchell, who originally committed to Ole Miss on April 15, played his first two seasons at at Fort Bend High (Texas) before relocating to Cane Ridge. UGA extended him an offer on Feb. 25, having seen him workout last summer. Mitchell claims he has already graduated high school and will workout in Texas until January. He plans to enroll early and be on campus for the 2021 spring academic semester.
Georgia now has 11 eleven commits in the 2021 cycle.
