Georgia lost game two against Georgia Southern Saturday afternoon 8-3. The loss marks the Bulldogs first of the year and ties the series at 1-1. Despite the loss, freshman pitcher Emerson Hancock put on a show in the first six innings. 
 
 
Hancock cruised through the six innings giving up only two hits, five strikeouts, and two walks. The start was his first and he set the bar high. He set the tone for the game and did it until he came out of the game. Georgia scored two runs in the opening inning then went scoreless until the seventh.
 
 
This is a dream come true,” Emerson said. “I’ve always dreamed of putting on these colors and coming out here and being able to pitch with such great guys and such great coaches. It’s awesome.”
 
 

 
 
Head coach Scott Stricklin praised the young pitcher and thought it wasn’t his best effort.
 
 
Emerson was great,” Stricklin says.  “The encouraging thing is I didn’t think he had his best stuff today. I think there’s room for improvement there. Six scoreless in your first appearance as a freshman against a really good club, Emerson was outstanding.”
 
 
Teammate Will Proctor who relieved Hancock complimented him too. Proctor mentioned that he expected that out of Hancock and its what they see in practice.
 
 
It’s unbelievable. It’s what we expected the whole time. If you come to any of the practices you know what to expect from him,” Proctor says.
 
 
The Bulldogs started off with all the momentum, but slowly lost it as the Eagles took over with a four-run 7th inning. Proctor received the loss and goes 0-1 on the season. Once Georgia Southern got started they just obtained all the momentum. They tacted on one run in the eighth and then sealed the deal with three more runs in the top of the ninth.
 
 
With the series knotted up at 1-1, Georgia and Georgia Southern face off in the final game of the series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
