Wow, what a difference a week will make as our Bulldog team gathered themselves with a decisive 27-3 victory over Kentucky between the hedges this past Saturday. A ton of kudos must go to the offensive line that produced 300 yards on the ground behind excellent running by Sony Michel and company. And defensive coordinator, Jeremy Pruitt had his crew wreaking havoc on the Kentucky offense from the opening whistle.

Beating Kentucky is hardly a signature win, but after such a disappointing October, there’s nothing wrong with some positive baby steps. However, the competition this Saturday on the plains of Auburn will certainly be much more difficult.

[su_spacer size=”40″] 2015 season has been a huge disappointment for head coach Guz Malzahn and his Tigers. However, they too took a step in the right direction this past week with a convincing 26¬10 victory on the road over Texas A&M.
[su_spacer size=”40″] At this point, I think it’s safe to say this year’s playing of the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry is all about pride. Each team is trying to finish this season heading in the right direction. However that will only be possible for the victor in this one, so I hope our team is up for the challenge. A 7-3 record (versus 6-4) heading into the final two games against Georgia Southern and Tech is an absolute must!
[su_spacer size=”40″] Besides a ton of pride, this year’s Georgia-Auburn game does present a phenomenal side note. Would you believe the all time series between the Bulldogs and Tigers stands dead even at 55¬55-8. Needless to say, this game has produced some great and not so great moments for each squad.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Two years ago in Auburn, Georgia looked to have sealed one of the program’s greatest comebacks ever, only to have their hearts ripped out by what is now called the Prayer at Jordan-Hare. Oh my, what a terrible recollection seeing our defender tip the ball perfectly in stride to Ricardo Louis who took the catch to the house. Just in case you’ve forgotten, Auburn’s desperation Hail Mary came on a 4th and 18. Simply sickening.
[su_spacer size=”40″] There’s no telling what this year’s Georgia-Auburn holds, but I do encourage you to load up for the 11 a.m. (central time) football brunch. The good news is you can be back home before dark. And more importantly, you can back your team, who could have folded versus Kentucky, but instead stood tall proving there is no quit in them.
[su_spacer size=”40″] See you on Saturday for The Brunch at Jordan-Hare … eggs benedict and mimosas are certainly recommended. Go Dawgs!
