Just when you think you have a team figured out, an opponent comes along and plays lights out spoiling your prediction. I thought UGA would roll to a second-half lead of 20 points or more. With that advantage, the second half of the fourth quarter was to be stat-padding time against an exhausted Notre Dame defense – WRONG!

The visitors from South Bend may not have fulfilled their threat to repay Georgia’s takeover of Notre Dame Stadium two years ago, but the Fighting Irish sure gave Georgia a fight before succumbing late in the fourth quarter.

Two years ago in Indiana, I never had the feeling that Georgia was going to lose, but in the final period Saturday night my confidence was not as great. The major confidence killer for me was Ian Book. Not only is he an effective passer with several excellent (and tall) receivers, Mr. Book can run. Whether it was actually getting downfield on a run or just buying time for his receivers, Book player one heck of a game.

While Notre Dame deserves praise for their effort, The Dawgs won the game, and that is all that matters. This team passed it’s first big test of the season. We can debate the quality of the performance, but Georgia enters the first bye week of the season undefeated – and with plenty to work on before traveling to Tennessee.

Oh, and the new lighting system is really cool.
