Georgia showed up for the Tech game with an infantry attack in mind and proceeded to pound Tech for 264 yards rushing on a beautiful afternoon in Athens and made history in the process. The Yellow Jackets, playing much better under interim coach Brent Key, could not stay with the Bulldogs as Georgia’s quality depth advantage doomed Tech, but the Ramblin’ Wreck played with fire and continued to compete. The Dawgs overcame a slow start, and an early Tech lead to clinch their first-ever back-to-back undefeated regular seasons.

In some ways, the Tech game reminded me of the two previous games. Georgia played within itself while taking the opponent’s best shots, waiting for depth to control the game. These Dawgs are impatient, but the wait was short.

Now comes LSU in the SEC Championship. The Tigers lost to Texas A&M Saturday in a shocking upset that perfectly illustrated Kirby Smart’s constant reminders that there are no cupcakes in the SEC.

How will that deflating loss affect LSU? One possibility is that the Tigers withdraw from embarrassment and approach the title game timidly, but Brian Kelley will not let that happen. The most likely scenario is LSU puts the loss behind itself and opens the Championship Game with guns blazing and its following going wild. Just as in its last three games, the Dawgs will find themselves facing a team with nothing to lose and a chance to take the mighty Bulldogs down a few notches – a recipe for disaster?

A disaster for Georgia is possible next Saturday but highly unlikely. Bulldogs are tenacious by nature, and Kirby’s canines are particularly so. This group of Dawgs seem oblivious to big plays chalked up by opponents. Interceptions? No problem, the defense is ready. Hail Mary completions by the opponent? Forget about it and shake it off like Uga X after a swim.

Georgia feels at home in the Dome, and the Playoff awaits. Kirby will have the Bulldogs ready.
