From The Interns: Georgia vs. Georgia Tech 2024

The Bulldogs took down the UMass Minutemen by a score of 59-21. With how difficult these past few weeks have been on the Bulldogs, this was the perfect matchup for the team to regroup and recover ahead of the postseason. The offense scored on every possession. While defense started off slow, they were able to figure things out in the second half. Although Christen Miller did potentially suffer a dislocation, Georgia was able to escape the matchup without any major injuries.

Two Dawgs had great games on the offensive side of the ball: Carson Beck and Nate Frazier. Beck continues to be on the rise since the team’s loss against Ole Miss. With four touchdowns and 297 yards through the air, he once again showed he can be the guy that leads this team on a national championship run. As for Frazier, the freshman back had an unbelievable game, rushing for 136 yards and three touchdowns, both career highs. While it may have been against an inferior opponent, his performance is a great sign for what’s to come not only the rest of the season, but in the coming years.

After an unexpected and wild weekend, the Bulldogs find themselves with a spot in the SEC Championship. They needed absolute chaos to play in Atlanta, and last weekend was nothing short of chaos. Alabama, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M all lost on the road to inferior SEC opponents. One thing is certain: the SEC is the most difficult conference in the country. Throughout this season, the top competitors have battled it out since August, and it just so happens that Georgia comes out atop the standings. Bulldog Nation will have the privilege of watching what will be an incredible game this weekend between Texas and Texas A&M for a spot in the title game.

Georgia fans may watch this game with an interesting perspective. As a Bulldog fan, which team do you want to face on December 7? Of course, it’s hard to beat a team twice, so that’s a major thought in consideration of Texas. Yet, Texas A&M is led by a dual-threat quarterback, which the Dawg defense has struggled with historically. If Georgia is to beat Georgia Tech, the season may come down to the SEC Championship. A loss would mean a 10-3 season with a conference title appearance, leaving it up to the seemingly lost CFP Committee. A win would mean a top-four seed and a bye heading into the playoffs.

Looking into the matchup with Georgia Tech, the Yellow Jackets currently sit at 7-4. However, they have plenty of momentum as they head into Athens. A few weeks ago, Coach Key’s team took down No. 4 Miami in a thrilling upset. Led by their quarterback duo in King and Philo, their offensive attack will be looking to dethrone the Dawgs as Kings of the Peach State. Though this rivalry already has enough meaning to it for Georgia, this is a playoff game in our eyes. While a victory in the SEC Championship over either Texas or Texas A&M would clinch a playoff berth, losing to Tech would make that game a must-win.
