Over the past few weeks, Jake Fromm and the Georgia offense have taken heat for their inconsistencies. Against South Carolina, Fromm threw three interceptions in a double-overtime loss to the Gamecocks. In a rainy battle versus Kentucky, Fromm only threw the ball 12 times for 35 yards as the offense relied solely on D’Andre Swift. The Bulldogs’ passing game has been under attack, and the national media and fans are scrutinizing head coach Kirby Smart for promoting James Coley to offensive coordinator. 

However, Fromm and his teammates have seemed to ignore all the hate. Fromm knows that South Carolina was a given, and knows he made crucial mistakes. But against Kentucky, the passing really wasn’t effective because of the conditions and wasn’t necessary because Georgia’s rushing attack led the way. With the bye week, Smart said the team got back to just practicing fundamentals, and now three days out from playing Florida Fromm expressed he feels good about the offense. 

“I think we’ve had a really good two or three weeks of practice since the South Carolina game and there’s been a lot of opportunities for us to look at ourselves, get better,” Fromm said after Wednesday’s practice. “Just a lot of different things, being clean as an offense, understand what we’re trying to do, the physicality of what we’re trying to do, executing on certain different plays. We can name a certain amount of things but I think we’re ready. We’re ready to go out and show what we’ve been working on. It’s a great time to go do it.”

It seems like the loss to South Carolina has been forgotten, and the Bulldogs are now looking forward to playing Florida. The week off provided the Bulldogs to have plenty of rest, and helped some injured players get back into the swing of things. Left guard Solomon Kindley seems 100 percent healthy, and rumor has it that graduate transfer Lawrence Cager has been practicing this week. 

Cager has been cleared to play against Florida, and that should help Georgia’s passing game tremendously. Cager has been Fromm’s favorite target this season and has also been Georgia’s most productive wideout as well. Smart said during Cager’s absence he was in the film room and the locker room supporting his teammates. Georgia’s wide receiving corps is very young, and Cager has been named as a leader for those young guys. 

This is the third time Fromm will face a Todd Grantham defense as well. Two years ago, when Fromm was a freshman, he shredded a Mississippi State defense as Georgia toppled the Bulldogs from Starkville 31-3. Last year, Grantham followed Dan Mullen to Florida, and Fromm threw was 17 of 24 for 240 yards and three touchdowns. 

Fans might be expecting Georgia’s offense to be completely changed, but Fromm put that rumor to rest. 

“Are we going to change completely as an offense, 180 (degrees)? No, we’re not,” Fromm said. “We know what we do. We’re going to play physical. We’re going to be disciplined. We’re going to make plays. We want to be explosive, so if you’re looking for a 180 change, that’s not going to be us. We’re not going to 180 change. We’re just going to do what we do. We’re going to do it better. We’re just going to be more effective at doing it.”
