You might think that National Signing Day on February 3rd marked the end of the college football recruiting cycle for this year’s 2016 recruiting class, but not quite. It is possible that Georgia could add kicker Mitchell Wasson as a preferred walk-on to this year’s recruiting class.

Yesterday afternoon, the Lassiter high school football kicker decided that he would decommit from the University of Alabama and reopen up his recruitment.
 

 
He was offered by UGA’s Head Coach Kirby Smart and Tight Ends/Special Teams Coach Shane Beamer as a preferred walk-on back in January before he committed to Alabama on February 3rd.
 

 
What potentially could be in Georgia’s favor here is the opportunity for Wasson to qualify for the Hope Scholarship as well as having to pay for in-state tuition costs versus out-of-state tuition costs.
 
Wasson was the Kickoff Champion of the 2015 Chris Sailer Kicking Fall Tour in Atlanta, GA last year. He is rated the fifth best kicker in the class of 2016 by Chris Sailer Kicking.
