Georgia divers Olivia Ball and Ian Forlini qualified for the upcoming NCAA Championships during the Zone B Championships on Monday at Georgia Tech’s McAuley Aquatic Center.

Ball took second on the 1-meter springboard with a two-round total of 619.10 points. She was consistent throughout the day, rolling up 310.75 in prelims and 308.35 in finals and averaging 51.59 per dive. Ball’s performance puts her in the field for the women’s NCAAs, which will run next Wednesday through Saturday at Georgia Tech. Ball’s entry boosts Georgia’s total to 13 as she joins the 12 swimmers invited last week. The Lady Bulldogs also may be adding up to two relay-only swimmers before the meet.

Forlini came in eighth on 3-meter with 719.60 points — 348.25 in prelims and 371.35 in finals. Forlini will compete March 23-26 at Georgia Tech and will be the first Bulldog in the NCAAs since Chris Colwill in 2008. The Bulldogs’ swimming entries will be announced later this week.

“I am so proud of Olivia and Ian,” Georgia diving coach Dan Laak said. “Olivia did what she needed to do on her first list and then kept it rolling. Ian put himself in a little bit of a hole after the third round of the prelims, but he kept fighting and was solid in the finals.”

Natalie Wallace came in 26th on 1-meter with 242.80 points, while Madison Duvall was 35th with 231.65 and Allison Greene placed 38th with 225.45.

Crawford Berry finished 19th on 3-meter with 315.20 points, while Spencer Madanay was 24th with 302.15 and Walker Wheeler took 35th with 259.00.

The Zone B Championships will continue on Tuesday with the men’s 1-meter at 11 a.m., followed by women’s 3-meter. The men’s and women’s platform events will kick off at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Live results can be found at DiveMeets.com.
