[su_spacer size=”20″] The Georgia equestrian team is set for the first round of competition of the SEC Championship at the Hildebrand Equine Complex in College Station, Texas. As the No. 1 seed, Georgia will face the No. 4 seed Auburn Friday, March 27 at 10 a.m. CT. Second-seeded South Carolina and the No. 3 seed Texas A&M will also face off on Friday.  The results of Friday will determine Saturday’s schedule, as the consolation round will begin at 9 a.m. CT followed by the championship round at 1 p.m.

 

“This team continues to impress me,” said head coach Meghan Boenig. “We have been preparing for this weekend all season long and I know they’re ready. They’ve shown incredible determination and focus in practices leading up to this. I could not be more proud of them. The entire team is dedicated to accomplishing one goal: winning the SEC Championship.”

 

Seeding for the SEC Equestrian Championships is determined by conference winning percentage at the conclusion of a six-meet conference regular season schedule for each team, during which each squad faces every SEC foe home and away. Each of the four equestrian squads of the SEC are ranked among the nation’s top-six teams, according to the latest National Collegiate Equestrian Association national team rankings. South Carolina is the nation’s top-ranked team, while Georgia is No. 2. Texas A&M is ranked No. 4 and Auburn is No. 6.

 

Georgia concluded regular season with a 9-4 overall record, which includes a 4-2 record in SEC competition. The Bulldogs and the Tigers met twice this season, with Georgia earning both wins at home (13-6) and in Auburn (10-9).

 

In the last competition of the regular season, Georgia picked up two wins in a double-meet weekend facing both Fresno State and TCU. In the 14-6 win over Fresno State, Sara Parr earned MOP honors after posting a 75.5 in Horsemanship.

 

The following day, the Bulldogs defeated the Horned Frogs 10-5. In addition to the win, Georgia picked up all four MOP honors: Kylee Arbuckle (Equitation on the Flat), Liza Finsness (Equitation Over Fences), Sara Parr (Horsemanship) and Kyndall Harper (Reining).

 

A highlight show of the 2015 SEC Equestrian Championship will air Saturday, April 11 at 10 a.m. ET on the SEC Network. This will be the third edition of the SEC Equestrian Championship after equestrian became the conference’s 21st sport on June 1, 2012. South Carolina is the two-time defending SEC Equestrian Champion. This will mark the first time that Texas A&M has hosted the SEC Equestrian Championship.
