Day one of Fall Camp showed promise for Georgia’s 2017 campaign. The team as a whole looked big and athletic. After the long summer, there was a lot to note and watch during the media viewing period. Football season is back and here are my takeaways from the Bulldogs’ first fall practice.
 

 
 
One area to note is the wide receiver group. Sic’Em ’17 enrollees Matt Landers, Mark Webb, and Trey Blount all stood out in the crowd. Landers is a big bodied receiver with big hands and long arms giving him the ability to reach and grab passes thrown to him. I observed him as he was one of the more silent signees from the 2017 class and it seems Georgia snagged a good one.  Webb’s athletic ability and route running impressed me. He seemed to be learning deep routes and hopefully, is a receiver that can turn into a deep threat for Eason. Blount didn’t miss a pass and received praise from Coach James Coley multiple times. As a whole, the group looked good together and in sync. Another wide-out that made a statement on day one was sophomore Tyler Simmons. I over heard Coach James Coley tell Simmons he could be dangerous because of his size.
 
 
The offensive line is another area that stood out to me. Coach Sam Pittman ran two teams with the players during drills. Linemen substituted with both teams, however, it seemed Sean Fogerty took snaps at center with what appeared to be the first team, but it was hard to tell who was first, second, and third string. Isaiah Wilson was hard to miss during practice with his size alone. He wore long sleeves under his jersey and was primarily holding the blocking bag and learning.
 
 
Eason seemed to be in the starting spot during the drills with Jake Fromm going second and Brice Ramsey at No. 3. While I watched the quarterbacks throw, Eason seemed spot on with his tosses. He was accurate and putting balls right where they need to be for the wide-outs. Fromm and Ramsey over threw some guys but recovered, making some nice passes too during the open media period. Freshman, Stetson Bennett aka ‘The Mailman.’ made some nice passes during the drills but also showed his youth by over throwing multiple balls.
 
 
A recent addition to the 2017 class, Ahkil Crumpton, a junior college transfer out of Los Angles Valley Community College, looked like an Isaiah Mckenzie clone. He seemed to be a tad smaller than Mckenzie but looked just as quick while running routes. He donned the same number as Mckenzie, 16, which not only made it easier to spot the JUCO wideout and return specialist but marked a striking resemblence to ‘The Human Joystick.’
 
 
While walking to the media viewing period, we received an updated roster with the freshmen numbers included. I listed the jersey numbers below for those who would like to know.

My overall opinion of practice is that the team looked in the zone. However, it is just the first day. But day one did prove promising and despite getting two brief viewing periods, there was plenty to watch for and note.
