Georgia practiced inside the IPF for Monday’s practice in preparations for Massachusetts. The players looked focused and ready to work despite preparing for an inferior opponent. Here are the takeaways from Monday’s practice.
Defense:
-DaQuan Hawkins-Muckle is still absent from practice (undisclosed).
-David Marshall (foot) also missing from practice. Kirby Smart alluded to this in his press conference. When we walked back inside from the IPF, he was seen inside the weight room with a cast still on his foot. Highly unlikely that he returns this season.
-Netori Johnson seemed to have a permanent position at the defensive line now and was wearing #96 Hawkins-Muckle old jersey.
-I would expect Divaad Wilson to get his first collegiate snap Saturday against Massachusetts. He has been full going in practice for over a month now and looked 100%.
-Brenton Cox seemed fine and was practicing today. Kirby mentioned in his press conference he could have played against Auburn, but had a minor ankle sprain. Expect him to return to the field Saturday.
Offense:
-No sign of Demetris Robinson. He has missed the last couple of games with an undisclosed injury.
-Cade Mays (shoulder) absent from practice.
-Kendall Baker (knee) absent from practice as well.
-Lamont Gaillard was practicing and running as the starting center as usual.
-Ben Cleveland also appears to be fine and was getting first team reps at right guard.
-Receiver rotation looked like this,
1s: Ridley, Godwin, Holloman
2s: Mecole, Stanley, Simmons
-Jake Fromm and Justin Fields both were accurate today and hitting receivers in stride.
-The Bulldog’s offense altogether is peaking at the right time. They will move like a hot knife through butter in these last two home games, but the real question is can the offense move the ball on Alabama? Only three more weeks until we get our answer.
